Kidzone Summer Holiday Programme 2019

In January approximately 45 young people took part in Shirley Community Trust’s Kidzone Summer
Holiday Programme.

Over two weeks the group visited Willowbank Wildlife Reserve and the Airforce Museum, had visits from
the Fire Brigade and Flip Out, and participated in activities like swimming, water sliding and giant jenga!
A great time was had by all.

                Grand Opening
Aproximately 40 people celebrated the opening of
the Shirley Community Garden in December. The
Shirley Community Trust, the Just Dirt Trust, the
Council’s Parks Unit, MacFarlane Park Kidsfirst
Kindergarten, local businesses and volunteers all
contributed to this community project.

A pear tree was planted by Cr Pauline Cotter and
children from Kidsfirst Kindergarten and the ribbon
was cut by the Community Gardener of the Week,
Eli Huffam.

This was a lovely ceremony attended well by
community and blessed with good weather. People
lingered after the ceremony to chat over morning
tea, were keen to be involved and were very
supportive of seeing this community garden grow
into the future.
