JAMEOS DEL AGUA
Jameos del Agua is located inside a volcanic tunnel
produced by the eruptions of La Corona Volcano.
Due to its proximity to the sea, it has an interior lake
created by the infiltration of sea water, and is a most
singular geological formation. It is also home to an
impressive natural auditorium, where cultural events of
special importance are held.
CACT LANZAROTE
The Art, Culture and Tourism Centres of Lanzarote, are integrated into the
volcanic nature of the island and constitute its main tourist benchmark. These
centres are a must-visit to get to know the true essence of Lanzarote. César
Manrique, a local artist with an international reputation, made them unique
by perfectly combining Art and Nature under a philosophy and a model of

WHAT 7 TO VISIT CACT LANZAROTE | 7 MONTAÑAS DEL FUEGO In the heart of the Timanfaya National Park, are the Montañas del Fuego, where you can enjoy the spectacular scenery, see the volcanic activity first hand and sample dishes cooked using the heat of the volcano in its El Diablo restaurant.

CUEVA DE LOS VERDES
The Cueva de los Verdes is an exciting cave that starts deep in the bowels of the La
Corona Volcano. It is part of a volcanic tunnel that runs until it opens deep under the
ocean. It is considered one of the largest and most interesting tunnels on the planet.
MIRADOR DEL RÍO
Mirador del Río The Mirador del Río is a unique building whose architecture integrates perfectly with
the topography of the land. It is located at the top of the Risco de Famara, 474 meters
above sea level.
From there you can enjoy spectacular panoramic views of the Parque Natural del
Archipiélago Chinijo Natural Park and the Risco de Famara.
CASA - MUSEO DEL CAMPESINO
In the geographical centre of Lanzarote, at a significant crossroads from which any
point on the island can be accessed, stands one of César Manrique's most symbolic
works: the architectural ensemble of the Casa-Museo y Monumento del Campesino.
Here you can explore the most authentic side of our agriculture and crafts.
JARDÍN DE CACTUS
The Jardín de Cactus is home to around 4,500 cactus plants of 450 different species,
grouped into 13 families of cactus from five continents. This was the artist César
Manrique's final intervention and represents a magnificent example of architecture
integrated into the landscape.

MIAC - CASTILLO DE SAN JOSÉ
The International Museum of Contemporary Art (MIAC) is located in the Castillo de San
José, a former military fortress. It houses an important collection of contemporary art.
LA CASA AMARILLA
Located in the centre of Arrecife, on its ground floor this building hosts temporary
exhibitions focusing on the knowledge and ethnographic memory of Lanzarote.

Lanzarote's capital since the second half of the nineteenth

TEGUISE
Teguise is the largest municipality on the island, extending
from the east coast to the west coast. Villa de Teguise was
the former capital of Lanzarote from the first half of the 15th
century until the second half of the 19th century (1852), when
it lost practically all its power to the new capital, Arrecife. It
was the first civil and urban settlement in the Canary Islands.

THE EIGHTH ISLAND
To the north of Lanzarote is the Chinijo Archipelago,
formed by La Graciosa, Alegranza, Montaña Clara, Los
Roques del Este and Los Roques del Oeste; and which
today form the largest marine reserve in Europe. La
Graciosa, the most unique island of the Canary Islands,
with barely 600 inhabitants and surrounded by dreamy
beaches, is an idyllic place. Here everything is about
calm, nature and serenity.

AN ISLAND ROOTED IN SUSTAINABILITY
The unique model of development that the island has experienced,
with sustained economic growth and with clear protection and
conservation of nature and the environment, has helped it to obtain
several awards for sustainability. Thus, in October 1993, it was
declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, while in April 2015, the
same body awarded the island the title of "Lanzarote and Chinijo
Archipelago Geopark ", granted unanimously by the Coordinating
Committee of the European Geoparks Network at the meeting held
in France.
This was the definitive confirmation of the islanders’ long hard work
to maintain one of their most definitive and identifying features:
their continued commitment to respect for and conservation of their
environment.
