WELCOME TO
LINES
LINES offers a summer English programme
specifically for very young learners (6 to 9
y.o.) at Downe House.
DOWNE The Kids Programme focuses on providing a
bespoke and positive learning environment
HOUSE
for our very young learners to develop their
confidence in all aspects of their English
usage, supported by specially designed
KIDS
group activities and excursions that offer
opportunity to practise English, make friends
and have fun. The Kids have their separated
area, with their own classrooms (The Secret
2021! Garden), their own house and are completely
segregated from all other students during
meal times, lessons, activities, excursions etc.
LINES offers a personal meet and greet service
to and from London Heathrow (other airports
on request). From the moment of arrival
until departure, LINES takes responsibility
for the welfare of each of the little students.
LINES offers a summer English programme
specifically for very young learners at Downe
House.
Downe House is approximately 45 minutes
from Heathrow Airport, 60 minutes from
London and 45 minutes from Oxford. The
school is located in the village of Cold
Ash where it is surrounded by beautiful
countryside. The school has private access
and is set in 210 acres of forest.

LINES
APPROACH
LINES wants to offer its students the summer
of their lives: learn or improve English, make
friends from all over the world, visit amazing
places, have exciting and fun activities.
Our programme is based on three areas:
academic, activities and excursions.
Students learn English during the day, do
some activities after class and explore the
surroundings twice a week and twice during
the weekend.

ACADEMIC LINES is very proud of the dedicated learning
programme it has developed over the years
for the Kids. The syllabus has been carefully
PROGRAMME planned to maximize opportunity to learn and
practise all aspects of the English language
(reading, writing, listening and speaking)
whilst supporting the specific learning
and developmental needs of 6-9 year-old
children and encouraging them to grow their
confidence when communicating in English.
The Academic Programme is at the heart of
the LINES Kids experience.

At LINES Downe House, we offer Kids access
to some of the finest learning facilities, with
modern classrooms supervised by fully
qualified and primary school experienced
teachers who have a passion for bringing
language to life.
Daily Assembly with teachers and Kids
Programme Director starts the day and
fosters a feeling of belonging for all. The small
class sizes allow teachers to give individual
attention to everyone and give students the
confidence to flourish and develop additional
language skills through story writing, songs
and role plays.
Students also complete weekly learning
projects in groups, supported by a range
of engaging and interesting excursions
and complete a Daily Diary so that you can
see what they have been doing every day
when they bring this home with them! The
Daily Diary also allows your child to gain
confidence in using the new language and
vocabulary learnt, as well as their ability
to express themselves and their feelings
through language.

EXCURSION Excursions are an integral part of the
academic programme at LINES.
PROGRAMME The Kids programme includes up to 4 themed
excursions a week. Students undertake the
excursions along with their teacher and
classmates.
While excursions form an important part of
the learning process, they also provide a
cultural experience for each student.
The excursions are outlined below. These are
a sample of the places students visit while
attending LINES.
All excursions are included in the fee. Please note that these are subject to change.

SATURDAY WEST END
MUSICAL EXPERIENCE
West End Musicals are a must when visiting Students will leave Downe House around

ACTIVITY
PROGRAMME
LINES runs its own activity programme for
Kids. Activities are not only an essential part
of the daily programme but they add value
to learning in a non-formal way.
Active learning is a great medium through
which the language learnt can be used. By
participating in activities, students learn to
engage with each another and have fun as
a group.
Below is a sample of the activities that make
up our programme. These activities are
included in the fee. Please note that they are
subject to change.
