THE MED-P YEAR
THE MED-P
    Specially designed for immediate graduates of
    the Québec Collegial (CEGEP) system, this
    program combines one year of Science
    curriculum followed with the standard four-year
    MDCM program.
    The preparatory year involves courses in
    sciences, humanities and social sciences, with
    options from over 200 departments within the
    Faculties of Arts & Science.

SETUP OF MED-P

 In the Faculty of Science, students must
 complete a minimum of 30 credits (10 courses)
 over 2 semesters
   6 courses (18+ credits) in compulsory science
   courses
   3 courses (9+ credits) in the humanities and social
   sciences
   1 course (3+ credits) selected from Arts or Science

AN ELIGIBLE CANDIDATE MUST:
    be a legal resident of Québec
         as recognised by the MÉLS
    be enrolled in a valid CEGEP program
         Science-based program (200.xx) or Arts & Science (700.xx)
             Students of the French Baccalaureate - Série S in Québec, are also eligible
         Currently in final year without interruption
         With no semester showing fewer than 6 courses (13.33 credits)
    have the following science prerequisites:
         Biology NYA (00UK), General Biology II (OOXU)
         Chemistry NYA (OOUL), NYB (OOUM), Organic Chemistry I (OOXV)
         Mathematics NYA (OOUN), NYB (OOUP)
         Physics NYA (OOUR), NYB (OOUS), NYC (OOUT)
             Students in the 700.xx program must take Biology II as part of their program

IMPORTANT NOTES ON ELIGIBILITY
The following choices will render you ineligible:
  taking any of the science prerequisites during an
  intersession or summer session
  obtaining an equivalence or exemption (EQ) for any of
  your program’s core courses
  taking any of the required courses for your program
  via distance education
  taking fewer than 6 courses per semester (13.33
  credits)
  Exceptions may apply for students of Sport-Études.

SELECTION CRITERIA
    Very strong academic performance both overall and in
    the math and sciences, as evidenced by the R score.
         Average overall R Score of Admitted Students: 35.3

    Selection for interviews will be based on academic
    performance (R Score) and motivation (Section 1).

    Final decisions are based on your overall evaluation,
    including (but not limited to):
         your academic record, performance in interviews,
         expression of your motivation, community involvement, and
         references

INTERVIEWS
Multiple Mini-Interviews:
     Interviews of various formats. Examples:
        Interaction with actors in a staged scenario,
        Discussion with evaluator on particular topics
        Interaction with objects towards the completion of a task
     Interviews are short (no more than 8 minutes) and part of a
     circuit of 10 stations
     The circuit changes every day, but is equivalent
     Designed to test your reasoning abilities and reactions
     linked to the medical Physicianship curriculum (non-
     cognitive skills)
