Message from the Principal
Dear Parents / Carers
I was really pleased to see so many of you at the Parent Forum
Wednesday evening and I'm glad I was able to answer questions and
address concerns about how we are going to welcome your children
back to school. This has not been an easy few months for anyone and
on Monday we will give our young people time to reacquaint
themselves with our routines and expectations but most importantly to
get them back into the classroom with their teachers where we know
the best learning takes place. We really are so excited to see them all!
We will also focus on ensuring we continue to do everything we can, in
line with latest government guidelines, to keep our school community
healthy. The first step toward keeping us all well took place over
Thursday and Friday when we provided Covid testing for staff and
students. The two days ran smoothly and students found the process
quick and easy. The second round of testing will take place next Tuesday and Wednesday.
This week we celebrated our love of reading on World Book Day by recording staff members in disguise
reading from the Lorax by Dr Seuss. Ask your child about our masked readers and see if they were able to
guess which teacher was behind the filter. We also saw activities organised by Ms Kotocova, our Careers
Leader in celebration of National Careers Week. The Sixth Form leadership team also held a successful
Information Evening for Year 11 students, internal and external who are interested in joining us at Sixth From.
Finally, I would like to express my gratitude for your continued hard work and cooperation during the
pandemic. We are committed to supporting your child as they transition back into familiar school routines and
as always, your feedback and suggestions are always welcome.

National Careers Week
In celebration of the National Careers Week, students participated in a
number of activities that helped them think about their future steps. The
week kicked off with special assemblies focused on transferable skills
delivered by Mr Shaw and Ms Kotocova, our Careers and Enrichment
Team. Year 10 and 11 students continued the week with tutor time lesson
on how to write a great CV and they had the opportunity to earn House
points for their CV drafts. The Sixth Formers had a fantastic online talk by
Ian Haworth who spoke about his career in the advertising industry. As we
welcome student back to school, they will continue exploring careers in
STEM during the British Science Week.
World Book Day
While school closures meant our school couldn’t dress up as their favourite book characters, the LA Literacy
team still managed to come up with a creative way to celebrate all the books we love to read with the ‘Masked
Reader’. Staff were invited to read a few lines from The Lorax by Dr Seuss with their faces covered (and in
some cases, voices altered) with clever filters. Students were asked to guess which member of staff was
reading and submit their answers for House Points. Keep an eye on the House System page on our web site
to see which house has the most points. At the moment House Archer are on top with 4000 points.Newsletter
