Messenger Mission Statement 9505 Petersburg Greg Davis, Pastor August 2021 McCutchanville Community Church’s mission is to connect our community with God’s Road • Evansville, IN 47725 power and hope through the love of Christ. Here is a question that you may have considered at some point in time in both good and bad times: What does God desire of me? We should contemplate this question all the time really, but as we resume our normal lives and have to reassess our priorities once again, it is especially worth considering. What does God desire of me? King David has a lot to remind us of in Psalm 37 when he says, 3 “Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in the land and befriend faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. 7 Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!” We are called to trust in the Lord, to delight in the Lord, to commit our way to the Lord, to be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him. The long and the short of it, is that God desires that we trust Him, that we worship Him, and that we listen to His Word. David understood this so well that he wanted to make a grand house for God, to build God’s holy temple. This honor would go to Solomon, instead of David, yet the lesson is clear. Worship of our God, hearing the proclamation of the Word, partaking of the sacraments, and the fellowship of all believers is essential to the will of God. God desires for us to worship Him, He longs for His people to come home and delight in Him. He is jealous for our adoration, and for our love. He is our God, and we are His people. What does God desire of us? He desires for us to come home. He calls us to fear, love, and trust in Him above all things. He is searching and seeking out the lost sheep, yearning to bring His people back to the main flock. As we look back to the past, and as we hope for the future, may we remember who is faithful through thick and thin, through the good and the bad, in sickness and in health, even past death. May we remember that Christ, our Lord and Savior died for us, and now calls his bride, the Church to be faithful, just as he was. Christ loves you all so much that he died for you, that you would be free of sin, death and condemnation. Come let us hear with joyful hearts, the Word of the God. Let us delight in the Lord, and he will make straight our paths. I encourage you that as children are welcomed back in the classroom as we begin a new school year, that we might be a welcoming church to bring those back into the house of worship. There is a verse from the song, People Need the Lord that goes like this: We are called to take His light To a world where wrong seems right What could be too great a cost For sharing life with one who's lost? People Need the Lord! Take delight in the Lord! Pastor Greg 1
Shouldn’t these two go hand in hand this year? Yes, it is time for our children to return to school in August. In our God’s Kids Pre-School we welcome many new students this fall, as well as many who have been with us for some time. And as Pastor of this wonderful McCutchanville Community Church, I do welcome all of our students, some 90 plus children, who excitedly come each day desiring to play, learn, and grow in many ways. And parents, we commit to you that we will love, teach and protect your children. We are honored that you chose to entrust us with the care of your child. Yet there is so much more that we have to offer. Jesus entrusted His Church with the care of His children, all of us. If you do not have a church that you call your own, we invite you to join with us. We might not be the largest congregation, or have the latest Christian music being performed each Sunday, but we will show you the love of Christ through sound Biblical teaching and welcome you open arms. When a new restaurant opens, people flock to taste it and see it is any good. From the Message the words from Psalms 34:8-9: 8 Open your mouth and taste, open your eyes and see— how good God is. Blessed are you who run to him. 9 Worship God if you want the best; worship opens doors to all his goodness. We invite all to come the House of the Lord here at McCutchanville Community Church.
