Written by Year One and Two Students
The Rathdowney State School Preps, Year 1s and Year2s went
on their Junior School Camp on the 28-30 October, 2020.
We stayed for two nights and three days at Brookfield, Bris-
bane. The 12 students, 4 toddlers and 9 parents got on the
bus at the Rathdowney Post Office carpark at 7:30am.
At 9:30am we arrived at the Queensland Museum. We looked
at the displays of dinosaurs, snakes, lizards, wild dogs, blue
winged kookaburras, spiders and many other interesting ani-
mals.At 12:30pm we had lunch at Southbank. In the afternoon, we went to GoMA and did Kids Interactive Art. We designed T-Shirts about saving the environment.
After that, we went to Brookfield and unpacked. We had a
delicious dinner. After dinner, we went to BOUNCE!
On Thursday morning, we went to Sea Life in Mooloolaba. We
saw octopus, sharks, turtles, rays, penguins and seals and
much more. We watched the Seal Show. Next, we had lunch
on the Mooloolaba Beach. On the way home, we went to the Mt Coot-tha Lookout. We could see Mt Barney 66 kms away. After dinner, we watched a movie in our sleeping bags, eating popcorn. On Friday morning, we went to the Sciencentre. A scientist made an explosion that looked like elephant toothpaste. We experimented with all the activities. We lifted our bodies and an 80 kg fridge. We designed planes for the wind tunnel. In the afternoon, we went to the Botanical Gardens and played Indigenous Games. We painted rocks with symbols. We twisted raffia and made necklaces.
We returned to Rathdowney at 5:15pm on Friday evening. We
gave three cheers to our driver George. We were safe, sad
the camp was finished, but happy to be home.
We would all like to thank George the driver for driving us.
Also, we would like to thank the teachers and teacher aids for
taking us on camp. Thank you to our parents for letting us go.
Finally, thank you to Ms VB for all the organising… and for the
ice-creams!
Our Camp
Written by Prep
On Wednesday we got on the bus at the Post Office to go on
camp. We picked up Austin, Miss Lane and Mrs Wieland in
Beaudesert.
Firstly, we went to the museum where we saw a shark and oc-
topus in a glass case. We saw some animals (fish, snakes,
bats, koalas, spiders and eagles) in glass cases. There were
real lizards, stick insects and green snakes in cases. At lunchtime we went to Southbank. We had lunch and then
we played in the big playground. After lunch, we went to the Art Gallery. We designed t-
shirts to show how we can save the planet. The lady put our
t-shirts on a big T V screen.
We got back on the bus and went to our accommodation. We went to BOUNCE where we got socks and jumped on
trampolines. Then we went back to bed.
On Day 2 we went to Sealife and we touched some starfish.
We saw stingrays, lionfish, cowfish, octopus and penguins.
Stingrays and sharks were floating over us. There was a seal
show. We went to the beach and had lunch. We played in the
playground and ran on the sand.We went to Reverse Garbage where we made things on wheels
out of garbage. Miss VB bought us an ice-cream up at Mt
Coot-tha where we played. We saw the whole city. We had
dinner and then watched a movie called Onward.
On our last day we went to the Sciencentre. The lady made
an explosion. We sat on a chair and pulled ourselves up.
When we let go, we went down slowly. There was a chair we
spun in very fast. We made flowers and planes out of paper,
put them over a fan and made the fan go faster and they
went up to the ceiling. We had lots of fun there. We went back on the bus and went to the Botanical Gardens.
We saw turkeys, lizards, fish and statue bats playing musical
instruments. A lady played indigenous ball games with us. We
painted rocks using aboriginal ways. The parents painted some
too.
Miss VB bought us an ice-cream before we got back on the
bus to go home. It was a FANTASTIC School Camp!Rathdowney
