What is HOSA and what is the Gift of Life HOSA Challenge?

                              Answer:
HOSA IS The Future Health Professionals, formerly known as
              Health Occupations Students of America.

Approximately 3,000 Michigan patients are waiting for life-saving organ
transplants. The Gift of Life HOSA Challenge is to encourage people to sign
up to be an organ donor. You can help to save and heal lives right here in
Michigan by joining the Michigan Organ Donor Registry.
Anyone may join the organ donor registry, including minors. Parents may
legally revoke the decision of a minor to be a donor until that
individual turns 18. Anyone considering the decision to be a donor
is encouraged to discuss it with their family.

See page 2 of these announcements for more information.

“TEST OUT” SIGN UP IN THE GUIDANCE OFFICE NOW!!

You may sign up in the Guidance Office from
                          October 12th—November 13, 2020 for test out.

ATTENTION DHS VIRTUAL STUDENTS: Please email your test out request to
                      dswain@davisonschools.org

Test Outs will be administered the week of January 4, 2021.

                            NO LATE REGISTRATION ALLOWED!
A “test out” is for students who wish to be exempted from a class. They must take and receive 78% or high-
er on the exam. Students who do this will receive a “P” for their grade which does not affect their GPA.
Student athletes need to be aware that the NCAA will NOT accept credit earned by “testing out” for a cred-
it that is a core required class. Also, some colleges do NOT view test outs in a positive light unless the test
out is used for advancement and increased rigor in student schedules.

Each fall, DHS hosts visits with admissions counselors and representatives from the various Military branches to assist
our Juniors and Seniors in their college planning and future career plans. While in-person visits are not an option this
fall, we will still be providing this opportunity to our students. The Career Center is currently scheduling virtual college
and military visits to begin soon! Look for announcements in the coming days outlining the schedule and meeting infor-
mation. In the meantime, many colleges and military outlets have set up virtual tours and 1-1 virtual admissions sessions.
Please see Mrs. V in the Career Center for any questions you may have on virtual visits
or questions on what specific universities are offering.
