                                      Message from Melinda Bennett
   Kia ora koutou,

It has been another busy two weeks at MBIS. Congratulations to all the dance groups who competed this last weekend
at the intermediate and primary schools dance competition and the national cheerleading competition. It was a very
successful weekend as you will read in this newsletter.

We had a very exciting two days of school athletics two weeks ago and despite the wild and windy weather I very
much enjoyed being part of the year 7 day. It’s always wonderful to see every student in the school giving all the
   activities a go. Well done.

Over the next few weeks there are many things happening here at MBIS. There are a number of end of year concerts
and performances for you to enjoy and we have our annual 'thank you' morning tea for all parents and caregivers who
have helped this year at MBIS. We really appreciate the time our parents most generously give to help our school be
a great place and for our students to learn and grow. More details about this morning tea will be sent out about at the
   end of the month.

Last Friday we had a very successful and fun disco which was organised by students from the Action Group. Students
enjoyed not only dancing but carnival activities outside. A well organised evening enjoyed by all; thank you Action
   Group.

Thank you for supporting our staff on Monday with the strike. We know this is not always easy for families.

Have a great weekend and enjoy this weather.

   Nga mihi
   Melinda Bennett

Nathan Jin (Room 13), Andy Song (Room 14), Andrew Li (Room
33) and Allen Li (Room 42) attended a two day chess
tournament (New Zealand Chess Federation National Finals)

A total of 250 children competed at the tournament. After a
very tough battle the MBIS team came an extremely close
second by only one point. Against such challenging teams this
is a remarkable achievement. The school is very proud of the

the school hall.

                           Dancesport Competition - Congratulations
The MBIS Dancesport team recently attended the 24th Annual North Shore Dancesport Competition. Our students
worked hard all year to learn three Latin American routines (Cha-cha, Jive, Samba) and one Ballroom routine (Foxtrot).
It was a successful day with many partners dancing through to the finals and semi-finals.
Results are still to be released.

Futsal - Girls
On Friday the 9th of November, MBIS competed at the first ever North Harbour

all played outdoor football. The Year 7's finished top of the table during round

through the day undefeated, winning the final over Northcross to finish first.
