name of the world’s biggest exhibition of the latest products and technologies in development in the consumer electronics
space. That means electronics that you and I use! Over two lakh tech enthusiasts, journalists and industry experts come to
Las Vegas every year to check out what’s new in the field. The show was held between January 8 and 11 this year. These are
our favourites from CES 2019:

inches when bent. It is already available for sale in the Chinese market.

For real! Hyundai launched a car with wheel-tipped legs that can climb over rough terrain, jump over walls 5 feet high, and
can go right back to driving normally when it’s back on a smooth pavement. Being able to better navigate rubble and other
debris, it could be very useful in rescue operations during natural disasters.

Here is amazing technology that can transform many lives! Through this project, South Korean startup, Yolk plans to install
solar power charging stations that can charge a number of detachable portable batteries. The idea is to install these cow-
shaped stations at schools, particularly in Africa, to encourage families to allow their children to come to school. Each
portable battery contains enough electricity to meet most of an average household’s electricity needs.

Google Assistant’s Interpreter Mode will probably change travel forever. Visiting a new country and don’t speak the
language? You won’t have to learn a foreign language to converse with locals or use a translation app. With support for 27
languages at launch, you can now just say “Hey Google” and say “Be my French interpreter”. You can then have your
Google Home or smart display translate the spoken French into English or any other language you choose. When can you
try this out? They will be rolling it out very soon this year.

Touted as one of the most futuristic technologies at CES, LG’s new 65-inch TV is able to roll away into a small box when
you’re not using it. When it’s not in full-size TV mode, the screen can also be partially retracted to show smart TV
notifications. So, if you don’t want to watch the TV, simply press a button and its rollable screen will automatically disappear
into the stand. When can you expect to see this on sale? Around March 2019!

26 August, 2017 was Match Day for boxing champ Floyd ‘Pretty Boy’ Mayweather and martial arts expert
Conor ‘Notorious’ McGregor. This was one of the most anticipated boxing matches being played out in Las
Vegas. It had been advertised for months and was expected to bring in many viewers on TV. Each viewer was
being charged $99 to watch the match!

Mayweather has retired twice and came out of his second retirement to fight this one boxing match with Conor McGregor.
He wanted to set a new record for himself, entering the match undefeated, with a record of winning 49 matches and losing
none. He was tied with boxing legend Rocky Marciano, and wanted to surpass this record.

Conor McGregor is a giant in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. What’s that, you ask? It’s fighting with mixed martial arts.
Mixed martial arts is a sport where the players can use techniques from wrestling, boxing, judo, kickboxing and karate.

You might be wondering why a boxing champ would be in a boxing match with a mixed martial arts expert. Well, there was a
big prize at stake: It has been rumoured that Mayweather made $200 million in that one fight, while McGregor took home
about $70 million. That’s right. For one boxing match!

Mayweather won, set a new record, and both athletes went home smiling!
