to see weekly improvement.
• It is at the Principals discretion whether a student is ready for his/her exam. If they

compulsory every year. Sometimes a student isn’t quite ready for several reasons:
missing classes, illness/injury or if their work is just not quite strong enough.
• Students who are entered for exams can be withdrawn for the same reason.
• Students sitting jazz exams from Grade 4 and above are required to take 1 ballet
lesson per week.
Concert

!6Performance Group
• A very high level of commitment is required for eisteddfod work and performance
group.
• Students have the opportunity to join the performance group from age 6. Students
get to perform in eisteddfods, fetes and the CSTD convention each year along with
extra items in the NSD concert.
• Performance group teaches students to work as a team, dedication and
commitment while having a lot of fun as a group. Students who commit to
performance group improve their technique, performance skills and gain skills well
above their age levels. We compete across all genres of dance.
• All rehearsals for eisteddfods are compulsory.
• Students are required to take jazz and at least one other genre preferably ballet.
General Dress Code
• No jewellery is to be worn during classes, except sleepers or studs. When performing,
all jewellery, including belly-button and nose rings must be removed (covering piercings
will not be sufficient). NSD accepts no responsibility in relation to the wearing of
jewellery.
• Hair must be neat and tidy at all times, in a bun for ballet or at least a pony tail for
shorter hair. A headband or bobby pins must be used to keep hair off the face. All
major students should have their hair in a bun at all times.
• Pink Ballet shoes can be worn with elastics for class. Shoes should always fit firmly so
that the teacher can see that the foot is working correctly. Half a size bigger is
acceptable but no more.
• Pointe Shoes will be recommended if the student is sufficiently strong and feet suitably
developed. They should fit firmly, without being too tight. Cotton toe caps may be
used for protection. Please be aware that Pointe work does entail a certain amount of
pain i.e. blisters. Pointe shoes must be fitted by a professional fitter.
• Black jazz shoes must be elastabootie, no lace ups.
• Bloch or capezio are the preferred brand of Tap shoe as they come with taps and
rubbers already attached. Students should keep a screw driver in their bag for
adjusting taps. Taps should not be screwed in too tight but should ‘rattle’.
• All uniform items can be purchased directly from the studio website.

!8Studio Policies Enrolment • Classes are run as per Qld Public School Terms. • Fees are non refundable. • Enrolled students are not to attend classes that are offered at NSD at any other dance studios without the agreement of Belinda Williamson. • Students participate in classes at their own risk. Dance is an art form that requires physical exertion. While care is taken to prevent injury, no guarantee is given that injury will not occur. • Teachers need to make physical contact with students in order to aid their development and correct their technique. • Parents/friends etc. are are asked to leave the studio once class has commenced. It can be very distracting for students to have other people in the studio while they are trying to concentrate. Parents and friends are welcome to attend our Open Week, which are run in the last week of term 2. This allows parents to view the progress of students. • A parent/friend is welcome to stay with Tiny Dancer students for the first two classes to make them feel comfortable and also to show off some of their new moves in class. Thereafter, students should be confident enough to attend classes by themselves. • Your place will be automatically held for each new term during the year and 2 weeks notice of withdrawal must be given prior to the term commencing or full terms fees are payable. • At the end of the year all students must re-enrol/enrol in the classes they wish to secure their position. PLEASE NOTE CURRENT ENROLMENTS DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY ROLL OVER TO THE FOLLOWING YEAR. A NON-REFUNDABLE $30.00 ENROLMENT FEE APPLIES OR YOUR POSITION WILL NOT BE SECURED. • Every student must pay an annual enrolment fee of $30.00 (Inc. GST) that contributes to coverings music copyright fees that exist on the music we use along . These fees go directly to the companies i.e. APRA, ARIA. These are organisations that represent the interests of singers, musicians, producers and technicians who make their living from music. Large fines are payable for infringements. Once a student is enrolled, this fee will apply and will be charged in their first term for the whole year’s levy. !9

Pick Up/Drop Off Info • Please encourage your children to sit and wait in front outside the studio door until they are collected by a parent of carer. This allows them to be in view of the teacher at all times. • We understand that unavoidable delays occur, but it would be appreciated if you could be as punctual as possible. • We are not responsible for students outside the classroom. • Please be considerate of other classes when waiting for your child’s class to begin by keeping noise outside the studio to a minimum. This can be distracting to the students and teachers in the studio. Injury/Medical Conditions • It is the students and parents responsibility to notify their teacher in the event of injury/ medical condition during or prior to class. • Parents need to report any injuries, disabilities (physical or mental), allergies to the principal each year upon enrolment. • It is the students and parents responsibility to inform their teacher of any injury being treated or may be of concern. • The first aid box is available to any student through their teacher.
