Melbourne City Mission
Early Childhood Intervention Services (ECIS)
Melbourne City Mission (MCM) provides specialised support and therapy for children with disability or
developmental delay, their families and wider support network. Our specialist team works with families to
put the building blocks in place for children’s lifelong learning and development.
We work with a Key Worker model, which is regarded as best-practice in supporting the goals and needs of
children with disability or developmental delay. Our Key Workers aim to empower families to build their
skills and confidence in supporting their child’s inclusion and engagement in everyday life.
Our Key Workers support families to:
• connect to therapy, support services, resources and information
• design a tailored plan for their child’s developmental goals
• develop strategies to enhance their child’s learning
• assist their child in familiar and new environments, such as home, childcare or kindergarten, and
the local community
• get ready for transition to kindergarten or school.
We also support parents and carers to grow their skills, knowledge and confidence in supporting their
child’s development, everyday activities and family routines. We can assist parents and carers to access:
• parent support groups, where they can meet other families and learn new skills
• facilitated playgroups focused on developmental milestones
• parent education and training sessions.
