Money:
We recommend €50 -70 + some £ for shopping/snacks (service station stops)

Mobile phones:

Mobile phones are not necessary but may be bought and used at these times:
• On the journey for listening to music/entertainment
• For the purpose of taking photographs
• In an emergency to contact a member of staff on the trip

This is common sense etiquette but…
Mobile phones should not be used as an alternative to engaging in conversation. The whole purpose
of the trip is to meet new people, experience a different culture and share enjoyable activities.
Unhelpful or excessive use of mobiles can be a barrier to face-to-face interaction and could mean
that you miss out on great opportunities.

Terrorist Activity in Cities
• Please do not be alarmed by this but know that we are taking this situation seriously and always
consider very carefully whether different trips/visits should go ahead.
• Current advice from the Police, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and Cambridgeshire County
Council says that trips and visits can/should still go ahead.
• If this changes, we will make changes to what we are planning to do or to what is already taking
place, and parents will be informed.
• For all trips, we already have a number of measures in place to ensure the safety and security of staff
and students, especially if an emergency situation presents itself.
• County have issued advice on what we should be doing to make sure we are prepared if such a
situation occurs in light of recent events– all of which we are already doing.
• Parents are free to decide for themselves if their son/ daughter will go on a trip.
• Staff will be briefed about what to do if a threatening event occurs and Senior Leaders will be on
hand to help via phone contact.
• Government advice has been included in trip packs around the idea of RUN- HIDE- TELL and staff and
pupils have been/ will be briefed on this.
• If there are any concerns during the week the school can be contacted or out of hours the on call SLG
number can be used (on the information letter).
