CULTURAL AND EDUCATION DISTRICT
We have been working hard with a number of organisations to bring to life our exciting vision for a brand new
cultural and education district for the Park. The world-leading development will see a new branch of the Victoria
and Albert Museum and a 550-seat theatre for Sadler’s Wells, as well as new campuses for UCL and UAL’s London
College of Fashion.
Over the past three years, these organisations have been working within the local community to help shape the
foundations for what will be a unique and groundbreaking project for both the Park and east London.
Through bringing together these world-class universities and arts and cultural institutions with local businesses
and communities, the partners have already begun forging exciting and important links with the wider community
ahead of the delivery of the overall scheme in 2022.
Since 2015, initiatives and programmes jointly delivered by the institutions have resulted in:
• 100,000 people attending a range of arts and cultural events, summer schools and workshops
• 118 local people gaining jobs and apprenticeships in the arts, cultural, creative, digital and tech sectors
• 12 graduates placed in paid work experience for Architecture and Engineering students with partners
Projects include establishing east London as an international centre for all aspects of the fashion business; the
creation of the 'Every Child a Dancer' scheme supporting educational activity through dance; and our work
with UCL in providing free legal advice, casework and representation to local residents through the Sir Ludwig
Guttmann Health Centre and the UCL Integrated Legal Advice Clinic.
We’ll be sharing news about the work of our cultural and education district partners across east London
throughout the year. For more information, visit QueenElizabethOlympicPark.co.uk/CED
