MICROBLASTER

                             PENCIL BLASTER
                    OPERATING AND MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS

DESCRIPTION OF THE MACHINE
PENCIL BLASTER microblasting unit has been developed to carry out finishing operations
on prosthesis in the dental field or on small pieces in the mechnical and restorative fields.
The blasting result will depend on the correct use of the microabrasives:
• Aluminium oxide has to be used for surface roughening and mechanic pickling
operations which will increase bonding between ceramic, resin or composite on metal
  support bridges (dental);
• The use of glass microbeads will allow to attain an excellent aesthetic effect by means
  of the satin-finishing which is a difficult procedure to be carried out manually;
• Cutting abrasives shall be used when removing investment at varying depth, according
to the pressure used, on any type of surface.

The blasting unit has been studied to be used in conjunction with a working chamber (BOX
or KASKO), where the treatment is carried out, thus availing of a protection against the
rebound of the microabrasive grains.
/!\ ATTENTION: It is absolutely forbidden to operate the machine in any way differing
               from the above mentioned procedure.
In case it is not possible to carry out the blasting operation inside a
working chamber (namely, restoration procedures), the use of
individual safety protections, such as eye glasses and mask are
compulsory to avoid inhalation of dust particles, irritations or serious
eye damages caused by the microabrasive grains propelled outwards.

The instrument is made up by a metallic support incorporating the abrasive container and
by a handy microprojector, very comfortable in use, which is connected to the abrasive
container by means of a soft and flexible pipe.
The pen-shape microprojector is very ergonomic and can be easily handheld; the spraying
nozzle in extremely small in size, thus avoiding to hide unintentionally the part to be
treated.
Under idle mode, the blasting pen can be ideally positioned on the metallic support.

USE AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
To operate the PENCIL BLASTER, an air compressor with high storing capacity is
sufficient, then proceed as follows:
1. Connect the pneumatic feeding to the proper pipe-fitting (11) assembled on the cover
   (12) – the pipe-fitting is suitable for polyethylene or rilsan pipe diameter 8 x 6; in case a
polyethylene 6 x 4 pipe or a 6 x 12 clothed rubber pipe shall be connected, it will be
necessary to assemble one of the pipe-fitting supplied with (tighten by means of a pipe
   hose clamp)
2. Set the working pressure between 4 and 6 bar (58 - 87 PSI) at the outlet
3. Test the machine no load by pressing the valve push button (4): air enters the projector
body (2), originates a pneumatic depression which sucks up the abrasive from the
container (14) thus causing the abrasive mixture to come out from the nozzle (1)
4. Introduce the suction pipe (13) in the aluminium oxide container (14) (delivered with the
machine) without the original caps until the cover (12) has been throughly positioned
5. Place the piece to be treated and the spraying gun inside the working chamber and start
to work; it is possible to work both with the right and left hand with no distinction and
seize the gun so as to operate the valve by means of your forefinger or your thumb.

ABRASIVES TO BE USED
PRODUCT - NAME GRAIN / MICRON CODE PROCEDURE
Pure Aluminium oxide - OXY 150 - 95µ AP150.1 Removing and cleaning
Pure Aluminium oxide - OXY 180 - 75µ AP180.1 Removing and cleaning
Pure Aluminium oxide - OXY 270 - 50µ AP270.1 Removing and cleaning
Crystal microbeads - PEARL 90µ AP090.1 Polish satin-finishing

The difference in grainsize among the different aluminium oxides creates a different
superficial roughening effect which will depend on the grainsize: the smaller is the
identification number, the bigger is the abrasive. The coarse grainsize will produce more
engraved but less thick retentions.
/!\ WARNING Very fine abrasives are particularly sensitive to moisture and must
be stored in a dry place, with the container well closed – eventually
put an envelope of hygroscopic salts (silica gel) and replace it
                       periodically.
When filling in the container of the machine, always check condition
of the abrasive product; should the moisure content be too high,
(bad flowability and presence of clogs) we recommend to heat the
necessary quantity of abrasive to let it dry up.

MAINTENANCE
The sandblasting machines are equipped with lots of parts subject to wear, caused
by the steady passage of abrasive products; the replacement procedures for worn out or
damaged parts are specified herewith.

/!\ ATTENTION: Before carrying out any maintenance operation inside the
                       connections, disconnect the pneumatic feeding.
If you have any doubts, difficulties or possibility of mistake, contact
our Technical Service to avoid any risk or damage.

Nozzle replacement
The pencil-blaster nozzle (1) will inevitably wear out and needs to be replaced. To this
purpose, the complete unit including the nozzle already stuck to the nozzle-holder is
supplied and it will be sufficient to remove the unit from its seat.

Replacement of the air pipe and/or the abrasive pipe
The soft polyurethane pipes (7) for the abrasive or the compressed air will wear out and
need to be replaced. To carry out this operation, proceed as follows:
   1. Unscrew the nozzle unit (1)
   2. Remove the fixing screws of the projector body (2)
   3. Loosen the screw fixing the valve push button (4)
   4. Pull the projector body forwards in order to allow the pipes to slide freely and the
pipe pinching knife (6) to get out
   5. Remove the pipes from the manifold on the projector body
   6. Cut or replace them (in such a case it will be necessary to disconnect them from the
container cap and introduce the abrasive pipe into the knife hole)
   7. Be very careful when introducing the components inside the handle (3): place the
air pipe under the blade and the threaded hole positioned towards the hole of the
      valve push button
   8. By means of a screwdriver placed under the two pipes, lift the pipe towards the hole
and screw the push button without forgetting the reaction spring (5)
   9. Press the push button and pull the pipes backwards until the projector body is well
positioned parallel to the handle, tighten the screws and re-assemble the nozzle
      support complete with the nozzle.
TECHNICAL REFERENCE REGULATIONS AND TEST PROCEDURES
The sandblaster is mass-manufactured by DENTALFARM in compliance with technical
and safety rules in force, as provided for by the 2006/42/EEC Communuity Directive on
Machinery.

Careful inspection and full routine testing are carried out singularly on each machine.

This unit is not classified as AEE (electric and electronic device, whose correct operation
depends on electric currents and electromagnetic fields); therefore, the Directive 2002/96
CE does not apply.
