PROJECT: Smt P. Jayalalitha Pre-Feasibility Report

Brief Description of nature of the project
Smt P.Jayalalitha has grant of Q.L for Colour granite over an extent of 2.83 hectares
occurring at Sy.No.10 (P) of Raikurudu Village, Seethampeta Mandal, Srikakulam District
for a period of 20 years.

The Assistant Director of Mines and Geology, Srikakulam, vide File No.4217/Q/02 dated:
23.08.2003 submitted the proposals recommending for grant of quarry lease for Colour
granite over an extent of 2.83 hectares occurring at Sy No.10(P) of Raikurudu Village &
Seethampeta Mandal, Srikakulam District, A.P, in favour of Smt P. Jayalalitha.

After, careful Examination of the proposals of the Assistant Director of Mines and
Geology, Srikakulam, it is decided in principle to grant of quarry lease for Colour Granite
over a precise extent of 2.83 Ha., in Sy.No.10 (P), of Raikurudu Village, Seethampeta
Mandal, Srikakulam District A.P, in favour of Smt P. Jayalalitha, for a period of 20 years
subject submission of Approved Mining Plan issued by the Director of Mines & Geology,
      Ibrahimpatnam vide Notice No.32908/R1-3/2002, dated.14.03.2018.

The Mining Plan Approved Vide Letter No.768/MP-SKM/2018, dated: 21.07.2003.

Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region.
In the present scenario, the Colour granite has good market in the country apart for export
purpose. The available granite is made of rough blocks, slabs, panel and tiles, monuments
and other fancy and decorative items like pen stand, flower vases, table tops-tea troy &
others. High precision products like surface plates may also be made for engineering
      application.

 Demand-supply Gap.
There is a demand of Color Granite and is ever growing with the growth of industrial
sector in the country. The requirement of the mineral is always found high in adjoining
      areas.
PROJECT: Smt P. Jayalalitha Pre-Feasibility Report

 Imports V/s Indigenous production
Colour Granite mined from the proposed project will neither be exported nor imported. It
is an indigenous production and will be supplied within the country.

 Export Possibility
      No export.

 Domestic/ Export Markets
Color granite is having good demand in export and domestic market. The applicant has
contacted the buyers at Chennai and other important trade centers to export the rough
blocks of color granite from this area. All efforts will be made to improve the market
trend and demand to ensure that the venture is a profitable one.

Employment generation (Direct and Indirect due to the project)
The proposed project will generate direct employment to 42 people and indirectly in
      transportation etc.

 Project description with process details
The method of quarrying is in semi-mechanized open cast method by using hydraulic
excavators, tippers, jack hammer drills. The blocks will be cut in conventional Wire Saw
cutter and will be split. The larger blocks will further be reduced to smaller handable
      sizes.

Raw Material Required Along With Estimated Quantity, Likely Source, Marketing Area of
Final Products, Mode of Transport of Raw Material and Finished Product No raw
material will be required in the proposed project. The available granite is made of rough
blocks, slabs, panel and tiles, monuments and other fancy and decorative items like pen
stand, flower vases, table tops-tea troy & others. Except removal of overburden in the
upper layer, no mineral processing will be carried out in the mine lease area.

 Resource optimization/ recycling and reuse.
Minerals are depleting assets once mined; they cannot be replenished like agriculture,
vegetation thus a scientific approach will be taken up in exploitation of mineral with
systematic method. Mining work will be carried out by semi-mechanized open cast
method. 75% of the solid waste will be disposed for roads developments and building
      material.

Availability of water its source, energy/ power requirement and source
      Water Requirement
Around 11.5 KLD of water will be required for the project activity. Water requirement
will be met through water tankers. Water is required in the mine for spraying on the roads
and working faces to suppress the dust. Also a small quantity of drinking water is
      required.

The generated top soil will be preserved as a separate stock for future. The over burden/
generated waste will be stocked in earmarked area for waste dumping.

 Climatic data from secondary sources
       CLIMATE & RAINFALL
The quarry lease applied area is falling under semi-arid tropical zone. The area is having
dry climate. The temperature recorded in this area is 250C in winter and about 480C in
PROJECT: Smt P. Jayalalitha Pre-Feasibility Report
summer seasons. The wind direction is in SW- NE. The average annual rainfall of the
       area is 1000 mm.

4.9 Social infrastructure available
All the social infrastructure facilities like hospitals, schools, colleges etc are available
       nearby villages, Mandal headquarters.

5 .0 PLANNING BRIEF
Planning concept (Type of industries, facilities, transportation etc) Town and Country
       Planning/Development authority Classification.
It is proposed to produce 41,500 M3 of market grade rough blocks during the plan period
with an average annual production of 8,300 M3. Benches of 6M height and 6M width will
       be developed during plan period.

 Population projection
The project will employ nearly 42 workers from nearby villages. Thus, there will not be
any increase in population due to the project.

 Land use planning
Land use planning explained under Existing Land Use Pattern.

Assessment of Infrastructure Demand (Physical and Social)
Safety equipments, small rest shelter and first aid facilities will be made available for the
workers in the mine lease area.

 Amenities/facilities
The following facilities will be extended by the mine management:
          i. Direct and indirect Employment.
ii. Arrangement for safe and healthy working conditions.
        iii. Provision of drinking water.
iv. Conducting medical camps for workers and nearby villagers at regular intervals.
