Foreword

Dear triathlete,

Finally we can go again. It has been so exciting over the past period, because we had to take a lot of
disappointments by canceling one after another triathlon again and again.
But NOW we can go again and the Bosbaan Triathlon continues with a brand new label: Dutch
Triathlon Series (DTS). We are happy to welcome you again and we are really going to have a party.
When you pick up your start envelope at the registration desk, we have a little present for all of you.

Because it's my birthday that day, I invite everyone from 16:30 for a drink. We've booked a great live
act so hang out after your race and come celebrate life!

A crew team of almost 100 people is eager to give you a great day on Saturday September 25.
DTS stands for quality & experience, and we are committed to seeing you cross the finish line with
that huge smile.

As you heard in the Pressco last Tuesday, we can admit an unlimited number of participants and
visitors and we can expire the 1.5m rule but… testing for access is mandatory. So visitors must show
a valid QR code of a negative test at the entrance of our event area (at KNRB).

I hope you have a great race and raise the glass with all of you. It’s about time!

Best regards,

Lars Vreugdenhil

The location
It is a world class location. The Bosbaan, on the edge of the Amsterdamse Bos, has been the stage for
European and World Championship rowing competitions. It’s a location that breathes topsport.
The beautiful area makes the Bosbaan the perfect place for a great triathlon.

Corona measures – Testing for Access
On Tuesday 14 September, the government has decided that sporting events can continue with an
unlimited number of participants and visitors. We can also let go of the 1.5 m rule. However, Testing
for Access is required. So both participants and visitors must show a valid QR code at the entrance of
our event area. Update: it looks like participants don’t need to show a QR code after all.

Registration
The registration kit you need to participate in DTS BOSBAAN can be picked up before the start at the
registration tent behind the finish at the building of the Royal Dutch Rowing Association, Bosbaan 8.
The registration kit includes a start number, Mylaps chip and stickers. If you do not own these, you
will not be able to participate in the race.

Important: The registration desk is open from 8:30 am. You can pick up the registration kit up to 15
minutes before the start of your wave. It’s recommended that you arrive at least one hour in
advance. Notifying changes at the counter is possible up to 30 minutes before the start of your wave.

REGISTRATIONKIT
The registration kit contains the following items:
• Bib number
• Sticker sheet (helmet sticker, bicycle sticker, bag label)
• Silicone swim cap
• MyLaps timing chip with matching ankle bracelet

BIB BELT AND START NUMBER
To confirm your bib number, it is recommended to wear a bib bel. If you don't have this yet, you can
purchase it for €10 at the registration desk. The bibnumber must be attached to the bib bel or to an
elastic band. The bib number must be worn during the cycling and running part. While cycling you
wear the start number on your back and if are running the bib number must be in front.

STICKER SHEET
All participants receive a sticker sheet with stickers for the bicycle, helmet and possibly for a bag.

BIKE STICKER
Attach the bicycle sticker to the seat post with the number pointing to the back. The number must be
clearly visible from the left and right sides. Do not remove the bicycle sticker until you have checked
out of the transition area. When checking in and checking out in the transition zone, we will check
whether your number on your bike matches your BIB number.

HELMET STICKER
Stick the sticker on the left, right and front of the helmet.

BAG LABEL
Attach the label to your bag and put all your personal belongings that you will not need during the
race in your bag.

SWIMCAP
During the swimming part it is mandatory to wear the silicone swim cap of the organization. It is
allowed to wear your own swimming cap, but it may only be UNDER the swim cap of the organization
and not be visible.

TIMING CHIP
The time registration during DTS BOSBAAN is provided by MyLaps. Everyone gets a Mylaps pro timing
chip in their envelope. Your own yellow or green Mylaps chip will not work in this competition.
You must wear the timing chip on your LEFT ankle (so that it can’t hit your bike chain). It is important
that you don’t carry the chip anywhere else, because in that case the time registration may fail due
to the big distance from the chip to the timingmat.

           PARTICIPATION INFORMATION DTS BOSBAAN 2021
8

Individual participants keep the timing chip on for the entire race. Team participants receive a timing
chip per team that must be passed after each part.

Important: All rented chips must be returned after the race in the appropriate bins immediately after
the finish. If the chip is not returned, we will charge an amount of € 10.

PRE RACE
THE TRANSITION AREA
The transition area for the Olympic Distance is located on the rowing deck at the head of the
Bosbaan. The transition area for the Sprint Distance is located on the event area behind the R.S.V.U
clubhouse. 'Okeanos'.

CHECK-IN TRANSITION AREA
Before the race, you place all your necessary gear in the transition area in the reserved place. When
checking in your belongings, keep the following in mind:
• Make sure the necessary stickers are applied to the helmet and bike.
• Wear a helmet when entering the transition area.
• Your bike and helmet are checked for safety. It is important to ensure that you have a properly
working bike before the start of the race. It doesn't have to be a racing bike. A city bike in good
condition is also allowed. Our jury checks the brakes, whether there are caps on the handlebar
brackets and whether the helmet strap is tight enough.
The moment your bike is not considered safe, the jury will not let you start, safety comes first. Bike
that are not in good condition will not be allowed into the transition area.
• The bike must be placed in the bicycle rack that belongs to your start wave and BIB number.
• Your place in the transition area is determined in order of BIB number.
• Take the time to look at the transition are, so that you know where your bicycle and belongings
are. This improves the speed of the transition during the race.
• All other equipment you need during the race should be nearly placed next to your bike.
• Place personal belongings that are not used during the race in the bag that you put next to your
bike.

WETSUIT
We use the ITU competition rules for the use of wetsuits during DTS BOSBAAN.

Swimming distance Mandatory under: Prohibited:
Up to and including 1500m 15.9°C 22°C and above

The water temperature measured on the day of the event is decisive. Any measurements prior to the
event are indicative and are not a reliable basis for the expected temperature during the race.
The timing chip should be attached to the left ankle UNDER the wetsuit. This prevents the chip from
coming loose when you take off the wetsuit.

Important: To avoid mixing up the wetsuits, we recommend that you put your name in your wetsuit.

RENT A WETSUIT
The water temperature of the Bosbaan was 19.4 degrees on Sunday, September 19. It is possible to
rent a wetsuit for every triathlon. You can rent a wetsuit via the Mylaps (Njuko) registration form.
Didn't you rent a wetsuit during your registration? Then you can still rent and order it via this link:
www.bijvoetsport.nl/triathlon/verhuur-wetsuit/

WARMING - UP
After the briefing there is an opportunity to have a swim warm-up until the starter asks all

WATTCYCLING KILOMETER
On the south side of the Bosbaan you will find the Wattcycling Kilometer. Every lap you get the
