How to use GCC Primary Language Planners
There is a page for each stage to slot easily into yearly/termly school planners

 Each page is divided into language to be covered in each term – see example below
 Each language is colour-coded – French is blue, Italian is green, Spanish is red, Generic is pink.
 From P1 – P4, grammar is ‘caught’ not taught through daily exposure through class routines with listening and talking in target language
 All language learned in daily routine continues through to P7, with discrete weekly lessons which extend the learning from listening and
talking to include reading and writing
 Each planner includes content for Class Routine, Cultural Input and Productive Language
 Web links/resources are included to aid planning for teachers to enrich their own knowledge and children’s learning
 In Productive Language all language is to be taught, phrases in bold are to remind teachers that we teach ‘chunks’ of language as
questions and answers, not single words.
 This allows for language to be created and extended
 These planners indicate a minimum content for learning and no ceiling is placed on Primary Language Learning
 Planners are to be used in conjunction with the Primary Tracking and Moderation and Reporting Comments documents
 Additional resources can be found on ONEDRIVE and GCC ML Blogs
