The year 2020 could easily be summed up as The Year of
Uncertainty. Coming to the close of the year, we’ve learnt
a lot about ourselves and our resilience in the face of
uncertainty, and one thing is for sure – we are a resilient
and resourceful people.
As SABC Commercial Enterprises, we’ve had to reimagine
and reinvent ourselves and how we do business. We’ve
had to introduce new and innovate ways to service our
clients as a result of the covid-19 restrictions, which
resulted in our platforms, TV and Radio, implementing
exciting and innovative ways to engage our audiences,
like the launch of virtual events and activations.
Along with the webinars aimed at engaging you as our
clients, Connecta, our monthly newsletter, is one of our
touchpoint solutions aimed precisely at keeping you, our
clients abreast of the exciting opportunities that come
out of our platforms.

SABC1’s Brand New Show: Plate Up
SABC1 introduces a brand new cooking show under the
tutelage of an experienced Chef. The show will follow a
journey of ordinary South Africans, who aspire to become
good cooks for their families but are a bit challenged in
the kitchen.
The show invites South Africans to write and share their
cooking aspiration and challenges. The viewers with the
most compelling stories will be part of a once in a life time
cooking journey to learn new dishes and the mechanics
around the kitchen with one of SA’s leading Chef.
SABC1 New Show ‘Shay’iround’ Explores
SA Beauty Spots
SABC1’s new travel show celebrates the beautiful
relationships among friends, colleagues or siblings,
while exploring the country’s beautiful landscape.
‘Shay’iround’, which is translated as ‘go somewhere’
encourages comradery among peers and family.
The show, presented by one of the channel’s charismatic
personality, follows a group of people with a special
bond and a desire to explore South Africa through travel
escapades that will reinforce the bond and create new
memories.

Taunted South Africa’s family channel, SABC2 has
tweaked it’s offering for the festive season to make room
for more, this with the view that families will be travelling
less owning to the current COVID 19 restrictions. It’s

GENERATIONS GAP
Generation Gap is a reality competition game show
where 12 elderly people compete for a grand prize.
Twelve endearing but larger-than-life elderly individuals,
from different cultural, racial and socio-classes are
pre-selected to participate in this challenge-based
competition reality show that sees one of them ultimately
become the Generation Gap winner.
Premised largely as a social experiment, the show gives
each participant, on a weekly basis, an unexpected task
designed to draw the individual out of their preconceived
comfort zones into edgy and spirited tasks.
• What do Teens and Mom’s have in common =
Grandparents.
• Grandparents are the most vulnerable and worst
affected by Covid 19 – this TV show give them a

HONOURS TEACHERS
The 2021 Back to School season comes on the backdrop
of a very difficult year for schools, in particular for teachers
who had to teach during the coronavirus pandemic in
order to save the academic year.
To celebrate these heroes and heroines, Metro FM plans
to recognise and reward teachers for their resilience
during the pandemic and ingenuity in embracing new
and safe ways to continue teaching under difficult
circumstances.
The station will call upon its listeners to nominate a
teacher who has gone above and beyond their call of
duty, the nominees will be shortlisted to 3 teachers who
will each win a cash grand prize of R10 000 along with
stationary packs for all the pupils in their classroom. This
will also create a touchpoint for the station’s secondary
market of ages 15 -24.

VALENTINES DINNER
Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest nights of
the year for eating out – your brand can get in
on the action by partnering with METRO FM to

The campaign will be carried on the station’s Mathemalodi
show, which is a potpourri lifestyle magazine show
dedicated to the entire family within Gauteng, Free State

To lighten the burden for the listeners ahead of the Back to School
Season, Motsweding FM will be running a Back to University CSI
campaign with the aim of sponsoring underprivileged university
students with text book fees for a year.
In partnership with a client, the station will invite students or parents
of university students to share stories of how much of a different
the prize will make their lives. The top two students with the most
compelling stories will be pinned against each other live on-air and
the winner will secure a text book voucher equivalent to 1 year free
supply of text book costs.
The campaign will be carried on-air, as well as on the station’s social
media platforms and website, allowing the client to enjoy on-air
promos, an interview, including owning the competition moments.
MOTSWEDING FM’S VALENTINE’S KONKA LOVE
COMPETITION
This Valentine’s, Motsweding FM plans to make the month of love
extra special for four lucky listener couples. Under the ‘Konka Love

Thobela FM is looking to partner with various institutions, including
universities, companies and clients to change the fortunes of two
schools from destitute communities. The schools should be teaching
in N. Sotho as their target language, and the will be picked from
Gauteng and Limpopo, respectively, representing their listenership
concentration areas.
As part of the campaign, the station will make a clarion call for
the donation of school necessities, such as pairs of school shoes,
school bags, sanitary towels and more to schools with limited
means. Companies will be challenged to out-give each other in
a bit to inspire excitement around the campaign and maximise
sponsorship of the campaign.
THOBELA FM FLIPS THE SCRIPT ON ITS POPULAR
ANNUAL GOSPEL FESTIVAL
Thobela FM all popular Annual Gospel Festival is known to attract
gospel music lovers in droves from across the length and breadth
of the country. The Festival, which is typically hosted in November,

Ligwalagwala FM’s back to school campaign in partnership with sponsors has
made education possible for many children from underprivileged communities.
Partnering with sponsors that are at the heart of empowerment, education,
skills development, humanitarian initiatives and community upliftment, the
campaign has gone on to donate school uniform, computers, sports kits,
equipment, school shoes, as well as building a foot bridge for a community
whose school kids could not get to school due to the floods.
The station’s plan is to increase the impact of the campaign by bringing on
board more sponsors to this back to school drive in 2021.
LIGWALAGWALA FM LOVE ROCKS ANNUAL ADVENTURE
Love Rocks is an annual nation building campaign that celebrates both love for
the Mpumalanga province and love for the significant others or a friend during
the month of love.
Lucky listeners get a chance to tour and explore the amazing Mpumalanga
province with their loved ones in the presence of the station and its on-air
personalities. The event is a three part extravaganza: #LoveRocksTour ,
#LoveRocksConcert and #LoveRocksAdventure.
In 2020, up to 60 listeners were part of the ultimate Love Rocks experience – 40
won a tour to the Kruger National Park while another 20 won an experience to
explore the famous Mpumalanga Panorama Route and exhilarating adventures
