Live@Central: “Preaching Justice and Righteousness: Jesus and the Prophets” 6:30 PM • Sanctuary Join us this Wednesday as Bishop Will Willimon leads the third installment of the series “Lies My Preacher Told Me: An Honest Look at the Old Testament.” Discover why stories and laws written thousands of years ago, centuries before Christ, are enriching and indispensable for modern Christians. A native of Greenville, South Carolina, The Reverend Dr. William H. Willimon is Professor of the Practice of Christian Ministry at the Divinity School, Duke University. From 2004-2012, he served as Bishop of the North Alabama Conference of The United Methodist Church, where he led the 157,000 Methodists and 792 pastors in North Alabama. For twenty years prior to the episcopacy, he was Dean of the Chapel and Professor of Christian Ministry at Duke. He has also served as pastor of churches in Georgia and South Carolina. Preacher, teacher, and writer, Bishop Willimon is the author of roughly one hundred books. His Worship as Pastoral Care was selected as one of the ten most useful books for pastors in 1979 by the Academy of Parish Clergy. One of his most recent books is Accidental Preacher: A Memoir, which portrays the adventure of a life caught up in the purposes of a God who calls unlikely people to engage in work greater than themselves. Plan now to join your church family as we welcome Bishop Willimon to Central UMC!
