KALGOORLIE KCGM Super Pit - Kalgoorlie Boulder
Some 550km east of Perth, in the heart of
Australia’s Golden Outback, Kalgoorlie’s rich
heritage of colonial buildings still glow in the golden
sunsets and echo its continuing connection with
gold. The Gold Rush era of the 1880s established
WA’s outback community of Kalgoorlie-Boulder,
now home to one of the world’s largest open-cut
gold mines. Visitors can explore Kalgoorlie’s history
from the early prospector diggings of the Gold Rush
at the Museum of the Goldfields and then take in
the spectacular KCGM Super Pit of today’s gold
mine on the Super Pit Tour. At 3.7km long by 1.5km

MERREDIN
Around halfway along the Great Eastern Highway between

ALBANY Salmon Holes, Albany
The colourful port of Albany on WA’s South
Coast, known for its fine local wines and
seafood, is a rich blend of natural beauty
and Australian history. Echoes of its early
European settlement are evident in its
architectural heritage from convict prison to
charming colonial cottages. Albany’s whaling

BUSSELTON
Just over 2.5 hours’ drive south of Perth lies
the appealing coastal town of Busselton on
the calm shores of Geographe Bay and its
aquamarine seas. The picturesque jetty, with its
blue and white huts is the longest, timber-piled
jetty in the southern hemisphere. Built in 1865,
you can take a stroll or solar powered train ride
along the heritage jetty’s 1.8km reach over the
