Go,” meaning the students will get their breakfast and report directly to homeroom. Students who arrive from 8:15 –
8:25 will go directly to First Block; breakfast will close at 8:15. Students who arrive after 8:25 will report to the
Student Services office in the main building, receive a tardy slip, then report to First Block.
• This year our campus qualifies for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the Federal School Lunch Program.
Because of this, all students will eat breakfast and lunch for free this school year. Extra food and drink items will still
cost money, and students and teachers will not be allowed to charge. Parents are encouraged to create and utilize
a My School Bucks account for each child if a student wishes to purchase items in the cafeteria.
• We will have three lunch periods from 12:20 – 1:55 each day, which will be assigned based on the student’s 4th
block teacher. Teachers will have the option for their class to eat lunch in the cafeteria, on the football field
bleachers, or in the classroom.
• Snacks will be available to purchase during each transition between classes at the Student Services Office in the
main building. Drink machines will be available to students in the hallways during the day.
• Per CDC and LCSD guidelines, water fountains will be turned off during the day.
• Students are strongly encouraged to bring water bottles from home to keep with them.
10Visitors on Campus
• Visitors (parents and distance learners) will only be allowed on campus from
2:00-3:30 pm with an appointment.
• All visitors will access campus through the Visitors’ Office, which is now
located in the two-story building toward the south side of campus. All visitors
will be subject to a temperature check upon arrival. Any visitor with a
temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed in the building.
• Visitors will be asked to wear a mask before entering the building.
11Face Masks
• Face Masks are encouraged but not required at all times. SHS will continue
to monitor and follow guidelines and recommendations set forth by the
district, the CDC, and MSDH.
• Face masks will be required during class changes and while riding buses.
• Staff and students will be strongly encouraged to wear face masks when
social-distancing is not possible (small group instruction, etc.).
• Students are welcome to wear face masks or face shields from home, but
any designs, logos, or phrasing that appears on those face masks would
have to be appropriate for school.
• Disposable face masks will be available as needed.
12Cleaning and Sanitizing Protocols
• High-traffic or high-touch areas on campus will be cleaned during each
class period once students are in class.
• Sanitation products being used have been deemed as appropriate
products for combatting the COVID-19 virus.
• Teachers will have cleaning supplies in their classrooms at their disposal
to use for each class change.
• Online materials will be used when at all possible in the classroom.
• Teachers will limit the sharing of classroom materials as much as possible,
but will also have sanitation and disinfecting supplies available to sanitize
those materials as often as necessary.
• Buses will be sanitized daily.
13Buses and Dismissal
• Buses will arrive to campus between 7:45 and 8:05 each day. Students will be distanced as much as
possible. Students will be required to wear masks while on the bus, and siblings will be required to sit
together to assist with distancing guidelines.
• Shannon High School will dismiss all car riders and bus riders at 1:55 each day.
• Students involved in extracurricular activities or athletics will follow the schedule approved by their
sponsors/coaches and the administrators for practice times.
– Note: Distance learners are not allowed on campus until after 2:00 pm. If a student has a practice period during the school day,
he or she will be required to be an on-campus learner in order to participate in that activity.
• Seniors whose schedules are finished early may leave as early as 10:45, depending on their schedule.
If their schedule ends after second or third block, they must be a car rider and leave campus
immediately after their schedule is complete. If they do not leave campus immediately on multiple
days, their schedule will be changed to have four classes and leave school at 1:55.
• Buses will be sanitized at the end of each route daily.
14Distance Learners and On-Campus
Students
• Students will indicate whether they intended to be a Distance Learner or an On-Campus
Student at Registration. This is their “Enrollment Status”. Their Enrollment Status has to
remain the same for a Nine Weeks Grading Period, meaning that if a student chooses to be
a Distance Learner for 1st Nine Weeks, they cannot attend On-Campus classes, functions,
or meetings during the school day for the 1st Nine Weeks.
• Distance Learners will access all assignments and lessons for the classes on their schedule
through each teacher’s Google Classroom for the nine weeks grading period.
• If a Distance Learner needs to meet with a teacher, they have the option of meeting with that
teacher either using Google Meet or in-person at a scheduled time between 2:00-3:30.
15Distance Learners and On-Campus
Students (continued)
• Meeting for such things as graduation supplies, class rings, clubs, etc. will be held from 2:00-
3:30 for Distance Learners.
• On-Campus Students will attend classes in-person 5 days a week from 8:15-1:55 with
modifications to follow CDC guidelines and MSDH recommendations.
• Students involved in extracurricular activities/athletics will follow the schedule approved by
their sponsors/coaches and the administrators for practice times. If a student has a practice
period during the school day, he or she will be required to be an on-campus learner to
participate in that activity.
• If a student wishes to change their “Enrollment Status”, they cannot do so until the end of the
current grading period.
16Health and Safety Protocols
for Staff and Students
• Thermometers have been purchased and donated to SHS. Thanks to Sonshine Pharmacy for the donation.
• Thermometers will be placed at the Visitors’ Office with Mrs. Mallory, and at the Student Services Office with Nurse
Tedford and Mrs. Armstrong.
• SHS will be conducting periodic temperature checks of staff and students.
• We ask parents to check their child’s temperature prior to sending students to school. If a student has a temperature
of 100.4 or higher, they must be kept at home until they are fever free for 72 hours without fever reducing
medications.
• Prior to arriving at work each day, we are asking all staff members to take their temperature. If a staff member has a
temperature of 100.4 or higher, they must stay home until they are fever free for 72 hours without fever reducing
medications.
• A student or employee who tests positive for COVID-19 shall be quarantined at home for 14 days.
• There will be no large gatherings or events held where social-distancing cannot be practiced.

23One Last Thing…
• We know that we are most certainly marching into the unknown where there are as
many questions as there are answers. We understand there will be apprehension
and concern. We also hope that you understand that we have put a great deal of
thought, prayer, and care into making decisions that we felt are in the best interests
of everyone concerned - our kids, our teachers, and our parents.
• We have missed being together. We have missed the relationships we share with
one another. We are excited about the prospects of being back together once again
and rising to meet the challenges we will all be facing.
• We will continue to provide information as best we can, and all that we ask for in
return is your patience and understanding. There are no blueprints or guidebooks
for this other than doing what we feel is best for everyone concerned.
• As always, thank you for being a part of our Red Raider family!
