Queen Elizabeth Australian Voyage
Helloworld Travel Alice Springs manager Guillaume Lefebvre recently travelled with a
group of friends on Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth in February 2019.

“We experienced life onboard this beautiful Cunard flagship from Fremantle to Melbourne
via Busselton and Adelaide. This was a great way to travel in style and catch up with
friends, and discover a new destination, which are not easily accessible via air, especially
when living in Alice Springs.”

He said Queen Elizabeth is truly an amazing ship with a wonderful art deco design; most
noticeable when entering the Atrium.

“Some ‘must do’s’ whilst onboard include taking a stroll around the ships many unique
areas and for something a little bit different and, trying your hand at a game of croquet or
balls. You can even try line dancing if you are game or participate in a quiz! Make sure to
attend a couple of shows, which were really entertaining,” Guillaume said.

“There are also many excursions to choose from and you can pre-book these, although
just taking a stroll around Busselton – which has the second longest wooden jetty in the
world at 1841 meters long! – was a delight.”

“There are many dining options on-board and the Britannia restaurant (main restaurant)
was very nice. You can try one of the specialty dining options for a celebration; we cer-
tainly enjoyed our Indian dinner with the group. For a casual meal or drink, try the Irish
pub!”

He said the Queen Elizabeth takes you back to a time past when luxury liners were the
way to travel between the continents. “Now, more than just a way to get from A to B,
these ships are a destination on their own whilst still maintaining the charm of days past,”
he said.

Guillaume recommends this type of holiday for older couples or a group of friends travel-
ling together.

TIPS: If travelling in a group, make sure you request that your bookings are linked using a
Travel with ID (TWID) number and reserve the same dining time. Don’t forget to include a
jacket and shirt, or evening gown for the formal dinners, and plan for whatever medication
you may need whilst on board (including doctor’s letter for prescription medication).

TRAVEL AGENTS ARE WELL AND TRULY BACK IN VOGUE, WITH NEW RESEARCH
REVEALING 76 PER CENT OF AUSSIES VIEW AGENTS AS ‘A TRUSTED SOURCE
OF TRAVEL AND SAFETY ADVICE’.

This figure represents a whopping 19 per cent increase since 2012 when only 57 per cent
said they viewed agents in this manner.

The research comes from the 2019 SureSave Travel Insurance Index, conducted by
SureSave.

Matt Endycott, head of agency sales at SureSave said it was encouraging to see travellers
continue to place such a high importance on agents’ specialised knowledge.

“EACH YEAR, WE CONTINUE TO SEE A HIGH NUMBER OF TRAVELLERS IN AUS-
TRALIA TURNING TO AGENTS FOR TRAVEL ADVICE,” HE SAID.

According to the research, 38 per cent of Aussies used a travel agent to book their last
overseas leisure trip. 20 per cent said their main reason for booking with an agent was be-
cause it is easier to book complex itineraries through an agent. 17 per cent said it was a
matter of convenience.

23 per cent also sourced their travel insurance policy through an agent, making it the sec-
ond most popular option after the 26 per cent who book direct.

“Whilst there are still those people who turn to the internet for help and information, we are
seeing that travel agents are highly regarded in the eyes of the general public and overall,
travellers really want to maximise the expertise provided by agents,” Endycott said.
