SPONSORS UPDATE – October 2017 North Harbour Water Polo Club has continued to grow their sponsor’s this season. Many of our sponsors are on board to assist the age group teams and others continue to stay with the club knowing they are helping the programmes progress into the future. It is wonderful to see some of our major sponsors have been on board for a number of years – their investment into the sport at our club has been incredibly generous and we hope to continue the relationship for a long time to come. See below all our generous sponsors and look for the brand new sponsor’s signage coming on our wall at AUT Millennium. Hazel and Jeff continue to support water polo at all levels. They are both passionate about the sport in NZ and have taken on various roles within the club over the years. Should any of our members be thinking about reviewing their hygiene systems at their premises look no further. Any new builds that require hygienic supplies contact them. Their service is impeccable. Hygiene Systems continue to assist the club by sponsoring the Senior Women and assist with many of our mini tournaments run by the club – their sponsorship is a relationship that has been built over the years and we continue to work alongside them to benefit our players. Barn and Bev have been long time supporters of North Harbour Water Polo Club. They lived poolside for many years supporting their daughter Lynlee and giving so much to the club. They continue to support the club and our senior women. Having a party or wedding in the next few months, give Barn and Bev a ring and let her them know you are a member of our club. They are fantastic hard working people who will help make your day special. Michael and his company Cootes Construction Ltd have a strong relationship with the club. Not only was he a Turtle (North Harbour Senior Men) for many years but his family also have had a strong connection to our club for many years. Michael continues to assist with some of the gear around the pool and this season made the call to support the Turtles. It is fantastic to see people such as Michael continue to support the club that brought him a huge amount of pleasure over the years. Dan Bees and his team at Apollo Drive are our Intermediate School sponsors. Dan has committed to providing support for the club for over two years now. His drive to support water polo is seeing many of our young players work hard to attain their goals in this sport and then of course eating the healthy food from his local store. Dan has also opened a new store at Westfield Albany so go along and support a sponsor who loves being involved with his local sports club on the shore.
Jonno and Louis came on board this year to support our Junior College Programme and I can say the players adore their eggs benedict – the best in Auckland I hear. Jonno has an interest in this sport as both his children play within our club age group and school teams. He was keen to sponsor this age group as he is well aware of how hard these kids work to achieve the goals they set themselves as individuals and teams. During the many hours spent poolside, pop along to either of the cafés at AUT Millennium or National Aquatic Centre and purchase a great coffee. David and his team at Jelly Belly came on board to support the hundreds of young primary age kids who play mini water polo each week at both AUT Millennium and National Aquatic Centre. David felt he wanted to be part of this age group, as he watched the kids thriving on their competitive games each week in the shallow pools. He could see the growth in this group and also the huge amount of work the club put into this age group to ensure they are enjoying this game as well as becoming more confident in water situations. The kids now wait each week to see who will win the player of the day bag of Jelly Belly’s!! At the end of each term David provides the club with drink bottles and product. Their continued support of this age group is incredibly generous and we love the relationship that has been formed here. The club are hugely appreciative of the support from our local Caltex Station on Constellation Drive. Our head coach has been assisted by these guys and both Zoltan and the club are thankful for their support. Much can be said about our families at North Harbour Water Polo and again it shows the relationships formed through this sport continues to grow. Thanks to Jonno and Denise for helping Zoltan settle into his new life in New Zealand. Our friends from Constellation Communities Trust also continue to support our head coach in his aim to work with players of all ages of to become the best they can be. Etiam Chartered Accountants have come on board this season to assist the U16 girls team coached by Dan Marsden and Lavenia Lovadua. If you need some advice or are looking for a new accountant contact Sally and her crew at Etiam Chartered Accountants on 486 7005. The team look great in their Under Armour sponsored shirts. Finishing the season winning the plate final was an added bonus.
Stu and Ang are stalwart members of the North Harbour Water Polo Club and are seen poolside at every event. Both love the team comradery amongst the girls and Ang is always helping the many girls who admire her hard work throughout the season. Kemps Weir is based on the North Shore should you require the assistance of lawyers. Huge thanks for your continued support of our club teams. Huge congratulations to the team of girls who took home the National title and the gold medal. Looking at the season so far…. It is amazing to see some of our sponsors continue to support our teams and club year after year. We are hugely appreciative of the financial support but more importantly we are grateful to have some fantastic companies and people helping our young players achieve the goals they set for themselves. As a sponsor, we offer your name on the Under Armour shirts, credits on our website and your name on our sponsor’s board, but most important in all of this is we offer the chance to be part of team. It is also great to see companies on board to help with the costs of uniform – thanks Under Armour and also to Karen and her team at Platform Print who provide gear for our referees and coaching team. The club has continued to soar to new heights this year and as part of our strategic plan teams have travelled to Hawaii and brought home two titles in U14 boys and girls age groups. We have a group of players working towards a European tour in 2018 along with the 50th anniversary of the Hawaiian tournament also in 2018. Our U21 men played this season and brought home third place. Our U18 Women placed third and our brand new sponsor Unleased was excited to see their sponsored team U18 Men take the silver. Our National League Senior Men walked away with silver this year and looks like there will be several changes to the line up next year which will bring in some great viewing for sure. Our Women finished outside the medals but are looking hopeful next year to regain some of the players that had a season off and we have an overseas player coming along to bring something different to the Women’s team in 2018. Very exciting for the future of our senior players at North Harbour. Our Talent Academy Y7 and Y8 boys and girls have been working with several coaches all season and the talent that is coming through is exciting for the future. We sent a boys and girls team down to Rotorua earlier this year and our girls won gold and boys very unlucky to just be out of the medals. This group of children have the opportunity to train with Zoltan Ridzyk, North Harbour’s head coach along with many of our up and coming younger coaches for a whole year, and many of the Y7 & 8 players are excelling under his guidance. The Junior Elite players from school year 9 have the opportunity to work alongside Zoltan Ridzyk in smaller numbers and again the opportunities to work with our head coach gives these players a head start towards Senior school and older age group play within our club. Over the past years the club have established an intermediate programme that possibly is one of the largest in NZ. Currently 24 intermediate teams from all over the North Shore come together twice weekly to learn how to be the best you can be at this sport. What has been interesting is the number of school team members that fall in love with this sport and join the club so they can continue to play age group games. The numbers of U14 and U16 players continue to climb. Having support from sponsors ensures we deliver an up to date programme along with excellent quality coaching support. Dan and his crew at Pita Pit have their work cut out for them on Friday evenings when player of the day certificates are handed in for their free Pita Pit. Great support always from Dan and Pita Pit Apollo Drive. The Junior College Programme has been running at North Harbour for many years now and the opportunity to extend the number of teams this season saw schools such as WGHS, Rosmini, WBHS, Kristin, Carmel and Rangitoto extend their number of teams in the competition. A number of other North Shore based schools are working towards growing the number of competitive teams in 2018. Huge thanks to Wholefood Cafe for their continued support.
Our U12 season has just finished and we saw a gold, sliver and bronze come our way but more importantly we saw 66 children absolutely love their time in the water this season – didn’t matter whether they won or lost, they just wanted to have heaps of fun and that they did. Huge thanks to our sponsors who allowed these kids to have their own printed training shirt for the season. Let’s see how many teams we get next year. NEWS FLASH: Our Kemps Weir U16 Girls bring home gold for the club and their sponsor along with our U16 boys who finished on a penalty shoot out and took home silver. What is happening at our club going forward….. We want to continue the good work that has been done so far – our coaching team is fairly young and the club have been working hard to ensure they get upskilled this season. It is great to see many of our U16 U18 and U20 player’s poolside in their coaches uniform. Thanks to all our sponsors as the funds do assist grow our base of coaches within the club. We will be looking at sending some of our coaches overseas in the near future to ensure they can learn more and bring it back to our club and its members. Our referees have been assisted throughout the year by our referee trainer. Huge thanks to Platform Print for their financial support as this assists us grow our base of referees and helps to support them throughout their season. Being a referee is a thankless job at times so our support is essential in growing our base of people for the future. All our referees receive gear sponsored by Platform Print. Interesting to see many of our older coaches, have gone away started families, and are now back coaching. Their love of the sport never leaves, so looking after our coaching and referee team is crucial to the success of any sport. In closing, another huge thank you to all of you. We have others within our club that are behind the scenes working hard to ensure your funds are used directly in relation to this sport and the players. We do appreciate the willingness shown by all of you, to do what we believe is best to support our players, coaching team and referees.
