India’s superstar cricketer, Rohit Sharma just made history by becoming the second Indian cricketer to play 100 T20
International matches. The only player to beat him to the punch was Harmanpreet Kaur, who has played 100 T20 matches
in Women’s Cricket!

Rohit made his T20 debut for India in 2007 against England during the T20 World Cup and since then has scored 4 centuries
and 17 half-centuries in his T20 matches.

As it stands now, Rohit Sharma has surpassed M.S Dhoni, who has played 98 T20 matches for India and is second only to
Shoaib Malik, who has played 111 T20 matches for Pakistan.

Well done Rohit! Here’s to another smashing century!

The IPL Playoffs start tonight!
The Indian Premier League Season 12 is heading to a close. Here is how the tournament will progress. It isn’t the regular
semifinal and then final format but the top 4 teams have now entered the IPL playoffs.

The Mumbai Indians led by Rohit Sharma zoomed to the top of the points table with 9 wins from 14 matches. Although
Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Capitals also have 9 wins each, Mumbai are on top due to better net-run-rate. The fourth
team to qualify from for the playoffs are the Sunrisers Hyderabad who have racked up just 6 wins from 14 outings.

That’s that from the league stage of the #VIVOIPL.

place in Vizag on Wednesday. The winner goes straight to Qualifier 2 where they play the loser of Qualifier 1. The losing

Delhi has never won the IPL title before, Hyderabad won it in 2016. Both Mumbai and Chennai have won the crown 3 times.
The Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians are without doubt playing the best cricket in the tournament and it’ll be tough to pick
a winner for this season. But one can never count out MS Dhoni and his yellow brigade from Chennai. There is a very popular
saying that IPL is a tournament where 7 teams work hard to play Chennai in the final!

It’s opening night for IPL!

Mercury levels are rising, summer time is setting in, and most Indians are burning up with IPL FEVER!

The 11th edition of the Indian Premier League kicks off TODAY, April 7, 2018 with the defending champions, Mumbai
Indians, facing the Chennai Super Kings at Wankhade stadium (Mumbai).

Who are this year’s favourite teams?

Mumbai Indians (MI) seems to be everyone’s current favourite. They have three IPL titles to their names so far. This team
looks formidable with players like captain Rohit Sharma, all-rounder Hardik Pandya, and star bowler Jasprit Bumrah!

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) is another crowd favourite. Who singlehandedly makes then so popular? Their skipper, the
man himself – MS Dhoni. In fact, Dhoni has attracted close to 15,000 spectators just for the team’s practice sessions! Look
out for Raina (highest run-getter in the history of IPL), Shane Watson, Dwayne Bravo, and Harbhajan Singh!

The team is returning to the IPL post their two-year suspension.

What happened? Here’s a quick recap : The Supreme Court of India banned CSK for 2 years in 2016, when it’s owner
Gurunath Meiyappan, son-in-law of former BCCI president, was found guilty of match- fixing. This means that a group had
decided who would win before the match was played. The players were told which team had to win. People gambled money
on the outcome of the match that they had already decided (!) and made lots of money.

What about the underdogs?

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have played three finals and have lots of star players, but have never become
champions. Let’s hope with a brand new team built from scratch, their captain Virat Kohli can bring his team to success.

Rajasthan Royals (RR): This team started as the champions in the first season but were also caught up in the match fixing
and gambling scandal. The recent ball-tampering saga involving Smith (former skipper of RR) has further thrown a spanner
in the works. They too are returning after a 2 year suspension.

Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) has faced many difficult seasons. However this year, with a new coach Virendra Sehwag and a new
captain the international spinner Ravi Ashwin, maybe their luck will turn!

So pull out your trumpets and clappers, slap on your jerseys and get ready to cheer your favourites on! Here’s
the new IPL anthem – let us know what you think!

India continued their exemplary run of form in the Champions Trophy Semi-Final with a 9-wicket win over neighbours
Bangladesh.

While Bangladesh came into the tournament ranked much lower than India, they have been a tricky opponent for India in
recent encounters. India appeared to respect this fact on the field, approaching their opponents with the same discipline as
they would a higher ranked team.

In spite of losing two early wickets, Bangladesh, who were put into bat after losing the toss, were cruising at 154 for 2. An
inspired bowling change from Captain Kohli brought on part-timer Kedhar Jadhav, who broke the century partnership by
taking the wickets of both Tamim Iqbal and Mushfiqur Rahim. Bangladesh ended their innings at 264 for 7, despite looking
like they would easily cross 300 at one stage.

After a solid start by the openers, India lost Shikhar Dhawan at 81 for 1. After that wicket, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma put
on a clinical display of run-chasing, knocking down the target with almost ten overs to spare. Rohit Sharma reached his
century and was awarded Man of the Match; Kohli ended the chase on 96 not out, showing us how the best sportsmen put
their team’s priorities ahead of personal milestones.

India now faces arch-rivals Pakistan in a mouth-watering rematch in the Final.
