Mary Coughlan is arguably one of Ireland’s greatest female jazz and
blues singers, a true artist who has carved out a timeless and highly
regarded career and a legion of devoted fans worldwide. Described
as “Ireland’s Billie Holiday’ Mary has overcome childhood trauma,
alcoholism & drug addiction to become a musical force like no
other. Her seminal first album Tired and Emotional rocketed her to
overnight fame in 1985, and fifteen albums later, her ability to deeply
connect with both the song & her audience remains undiminished, a
testament to her inner strength and to the power of transformation
& redemption. Mary live is in a league of her own, her glorious husky
voice pulling every ounce of emotion from the music.

JM Synge’s Comedy in Three Acts - Directed by Kate Canning
A small community in County Mayo is thrown into turbulence with
the arrival of Christy Mahon, a mysterious stranger claiming to have
killed his father. The local men aren’t sure if he’s a danger and the
local women find him fascinating. Michael James Flaherty the local
publican takes a shine to him, and his daughter Pegeen Mike finds
his company preferable to that of her dull fiancée, Shawn Keogh.
However it transpires that Christy’s father is not dead afterall, when
Old Mahon arrives with a gaping head wound, searching for his
ungrateful son.

We are proud to facilitate the first Schools Shakespeare Festival!
Our aim is to create a unique opportunity for students to
experience Shakespeare as his work should be experienced, on
stage. The festival framework gives teachers the opportunity to
develop their chosen Shakespeare in class through performance.
With given texts and fixed timetables, the onus is placed firmly on
the students shoulders to interact meaningfully with the project at
 hand.
3 Schools will perform each night, Winners Announced Friday night!

Theatre Productions Europe brings you “A Viennese Strauss Gala” in
        association with Aine Hanratty Entertainments.

This hugely popular production recreates the romance of the
Viennese Festive season, reminding you of a bygone age of glamorous
soirees and Strauss waltzes. It is cleverly staged and choreographed,
authentically costumed, and will appeal to the romantic as much as
        the music aficionado.

Getting to noh from ‘page to stage’ ‘Noh’ is classical Japanese
theatre which combines dance, drama, music, poetic text, exquisite
costumes and masks into a highly aesthetic form of art that has
been performed continuously for 650 years.

This performance demonstration talk is designed to introduce
audiences to the key elements of noh and to have a close up and
interactive xperience of how a new noh is developed from ‘page to
stage’. The focus of the new noh, Between the Stones, is ‘from tragic
loss to peace’. It explores how the burden of grief turns into an
understanding and celebration of life, death, beauty and love; and
the transformative power of gardens to nurture and heal the soul…
It also uniquely brings together three Japanese cultural forms – noh,
karesansui gardens and furin (wind chimes).

The professional noh actor, Kinue Oshima, the composer, Richard
Emmert, and the author of this new two-act English language noh
drama, Jannette Cheong, will share key aspects of how this new noh
will be transformed from the poetic text to the stage production
using traditional noh techniques.

Although not quite the traditional comedy we are familiar with, this
play covers with great mirth, the changing face of modern Ireland.
But change does not come easy. A miserable farmer has 6 months
to live and decides to leave his sizeable farm to his more miserable
best friend. The complications that arise from that decision creates
this unique comedy. Undoubtedly a very funny play and 2 expertly
acted out by all the cast. The play is written by Ballyconnell writer
John McManus and the “Acorn Players” are the only troupe to
perform this new production.

The R&R makes a welcome return to The Mill Theatre this spring
with the hilarious farce comedy Don’t Dress For Dinner. Based on
the original French production of Pyjama Pour Six, Robin Hawdon
adapted the play for English-speaking audiences which opened on
The West End in 1991 playing to packed houses and critical acclaim.
During its original run, one reviewer for The Guardian put it “Hurtling
along at the speed of light, Marc Canoletti’s breathtaking farce is a
near faultless piece of theatrical invention. Within seconds we are
drawn into a delicious web of marital treachery which accelerates
with classic symmetry to an all-star denouement…”

Cork comedian Chris Kent returns with his 6thsolo show Looking Up.
Chris has spent the past year balancing comedy with being a stay
at home dad and trying to grow a beard. He has also removed the
word “mate” from his vocabulary as it takes too much effort to say
in an Irish accent.

T.V. appearances include the RTÉ 2 panel show Next Year’s News,
The Craig Doyle Show and Conor’s Dad in the hit series The Young
Offenders. In the UK, he has appeared on Russell Howard’s Stand Up
Central for Comedy Central.

beautifully simple adaptation of one of Dickens’s best-loved novels,

the house of the mysterious Miss Havisham, he falls in love with
her adopted daughter, the beautiful but cold-hearted Estella. Then
the generosity of an unknown benefactor sends him to London to
