Certified Pool Operator
The Certified Pool Operator certification course is designed to provide the basic knowledge, techniques and skills
required to safely operate a pool or spa. The course will follow the NSPF Pool & Spa Operator Handbook (provided)
along with local regulatory codes and is taught by an NSPF certified instructor. Essential calculations, how to carry out
and interpret water tests for safe operation of aquatic facilities, state and federal regulations and other important topics
will be covered. Pass the open book exam and earn your CPO certification.

Essentials of Excel
Microsoft Excel is a program used to present data in a spreadsheet or a table of rows and columns. Data can
then be sorted, organized, and manipulated mathematically using various operations and formulas. This
introductory course will teach you basic data editing, performing calculations with formulas, managing
workbooks, creating charts, and many other marketable skills using the automated tools found within Excel.

Basic Life Support (CPR)
This course is a two year certification in Basic Life Support (CPR) and does not include First Aid. The American
Heart Association (AHA) strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in all AHA courses and has developed
instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent
course sponsorship by the AHA. Any fees charged for such a course, except for a portion of fees needed for AHA course
materials, do not represent income to the AHA. Refunds can only be provided if you cancel enrollment by calling 979-

Allied Health Track: Certified Nurse Aide to Medical Assistant
This program provides an opportunity for Certified Nurse Aides to earn a stacked credential. CNA license must be
current, in good standing, and license holder must have at least 1 year of working CNA experience during the last 3 years
(before start date of the program). Medical Assistants work in medical clinics and similar settings assisting physicians by
performing administrative duties and handling basic clinical tasks. Often, they are the first person a patient may
encounter during a medical appointment. Medical Assistants are trained in front office duties, charting, billing
procedures, EKG, phlebotomy, vital signs, and other important clinical tasks. This is a blended course with both on-
campus and online instruction.

Medical Assistant REFRESHER Course
This refresher course is intended for Medical Assistants who are interested in enhancing their current clinical skills,

This exam preparation course will help students plan and prepare to take one of the national certification exams for
Medical Assistant. Whether planning to retake an exam or taking the exam for the first-time, this course will be essential
as it teaches time-management skills, how to apply study techniques and offers strategies for taking a national
certification exam. Clinical Skills lab practices will be minimal in this course. This is an online course with scheduled live
interaction with an instructor. Students must log-in at their designated class time. You may access your course at

Phlebotomy Technician Program
Phlebotomists draw blood from a patient for clinical or medical testing, transfusions or blood donations. Anyone who
chooses this field should be comfortable with blood, needles, and blood vials. Students are trained to perform a variety
of blood collection methods with an emphasis on safety, quality assurance, patient identification and specimen
handling. This course is taught in an online and face-to-face format. The cost of a national certification exam is included
in this program. Prerequisites for Clinical Practicum: At least 18 years of age with a High School Diploma or High
School Equivalency (HSE), acceptable criminal background and completion of all state-required immunizations and
CPR training.

When you train with Brazosport College, you can be prepared for a successful career as a dental assistant in as early as
four months. Our partnership with Career Step provides a Dental Assistant program that will prepare you to get certified
and working in the dental industry. The online program provides instructional videos, images, and quizzes to test your
knowledge and retention throughout the course. This course also includes simulations, allowing you to enhance your
learning experience with “hands-on” practice. Enrollment is continuously open. This is an online course without

Career Pathways
Career Pathways offers students the opportunity to acquire a combination of basic academic skills and industry-specific
training at the same time for zero or very little expense. You can train for a career and complete your high school
equivalency diploma or improve English language skills at the same time. If you have a high school diploma you can also
benefit from Career Pathways by improving your academic skills while receiving workforce preparation and training.
Successful completion of this program may lead to a career and employment opportunities in high-demand occupations.

Youth and Teen
Fencing
En Garde! Join the beginner fencing class and learn basic fencing skills, attack and defense techniques, and move on to
full speed bouting with electronic scoring. A fencing uniform will eventually be required, but the instructor has club
equipment to loan initially, until you are sure you actually like the sport. Wear shorts, t-shirt, knee high athletic socks
and sneakers. Enrollment is open to beginners age 11-13 and all returning students.
