The Glendale Wildflower Scattering Area is a natural prairie located in
Glendale Cemetery. Native grasses and wildflowers create a comfortable September 14th 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
environment to scatter the remains of loved ones. Native prairie plants October 12th 1:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
provide deep roots that have held our rich Iowa soil together for centuries.
They also provide a diverse habitat rich with flora and fauna that visitors can
enjoy while at the cemetery. However, some prairie plants can grow so tall
that they start to fall over into the walking path. Volunteers will work with staff
to cut back plants along the paths to make our visitor’s experience much more
relaxed and enjoyable. Join us for a morning along the prairie enjoying the
summer sun and nature.
