Letter From Father...
St. Pat’s School has served the the people
of Livingston County since 1942, and has
educated many of the area’s community and
business leaders. In September 2006, the
parish purchased and renovated property
on Charles Orndorf Drive in Brighton
and opened a new school building to
accommodate the increasing enrollment,
which has grown to about 440 students.
At St. Pat’s School, we’re committed to
improving our technology usage for all
students. To help with this goal, the theme
of our annual school auction this year is
“Technology First” with the proceeds going
towards purchasing devices for our classrooms. We would like to be able to
purchase enough Chromebooks so that each grade, 2nd through 8th, has
access to a device cart. Each cart contains 25-30 Chromebooks. Additionally,
our junior kindergarten through 1st grade would have access to similar carts
full of iPads.
Access to these devices has numerous benefits to our school community. Here
are a few:
• Each device would have adaptive learning software allowing teachers to
personalize the student educational experience.
• New software will create individualized learning paths directly from NWEA
scores and allow more advanced students to progress further, while students
with a greater need for help will get more support.
• Standardized testing time will be reduced from 3 days to 1 day. Since testing
takes place 3 times a year, we will be saving 6 whole days a year!
Lastly, at the close of the auction we will be holding a dedicated giving
opportunity for scholarships at the school. Proudly, we have over 10% of our
families on either full or partial scholarship, and we would like to make our
wonderful Catholic education even more accessible to parish families. Every
dollar donated during the dedicated giving will go towards increasing the
scholarship pool!

A little about the DAC
Many organizations have left their mark on Detroit’s 300 years as a city,
but few have impacted the community as much as the Detroit Athletic
Club (DAC). Like a boulder in the middle of a river, the DAC has shaped
more than 100 years of Detroit history since it was established in 1887.
The original club was founded by a group of privileged young men
under the spell of amateur athletics sweeping the country at the time.
The club was later reborn in 1913 by a group of the city’s prominent
automotive and industrial leaders. They reorganized the DAC and
commissioned famed architect Albert Kahn to design the magnificent
six-story Clubhouse that stands today in the center of the city’s theatre
and sports district.
Today the DAC membership truly reflects the diversity of Detroit as it
enters its fourth century. Several years ago the Club began spending
millions to restore the fine art details of the interior rooms, shining a
fresh light on the greatness of what many saw on that day in 1915 when
the clubhouse originally opened its doors.
A hub of greatness in a great city, the DAC has seen
its share of U.S. presidents, foreign kings, famous
aviators, war heroes, athletes and entertainers.
Over the years the Club has been honored as
one of the finest in the nation, and countless
community leaders have strolled its halls, swam in
its pool, eaten in the fabulous DAC Grill or attended
a gala black-tie event within the grandeur of the Main
Dining Hall. For the second year in a row, the DAC has
been named the #1 private athletic club in the nation
by the Platinum Clubs of America!

Edward William Priestap
Recently retired Assistant Director of
the FBI Counterintelligence Division,
Bill Priestap spent 20 years with the
Bureau. Bill is currently a Georgetown
Walsh School of Foreign Service Fellow.
The Priestap family have been St. Pat’s
parishoners for over 40 years. Bill
graduated from St. Patrick School in 1983.
Sam Gomez
Sam is a 2017 graduate and is currently a
junior at Catholic Central on an academic
scholarship. He has been involved in
student leadership at both St. Pat’s and CC.
He has played the trumpet in the marching
band for three years and he is the lead
photographer for the CC newspaper. Sam
was recently accepted into the National
Honor Society.

Dave Santia Speed Painting
Dave Santia is a premier peformance speed painter from the Detroit
area. He began his artistic journey at the young age of 7, filling
sketchpad after sketchpad with different
drawings; his mom’s one constant shopping
list item was a new sketch pad every week.
Since premiering his speed paintings in
2011, Dave Santia has helped multiple
charities raise close to $600,000 from the
auctioning of his artwork as of December,
2016. With over 200 speed paintings in
his arsenal (and growing), Dave can easily
accommodate any audience. Dave Santia
has also had the pleasure of working with
several local media and sports figures, and
multiple national celebrities.
Dave’s paintings are limited in number (100) to retain and increase
their value and are sized 4’ x 5’. The paintings that will be created
during dinner will be auctioned off and delivered to the winning
bidder!

Auction Rules & Fine Print
1. All bidders are required to register with the cashier and receive a bidder’s
number. All bidders must furnish their full name, phone number and email
address.
2. All purchased items must be paid for on the day of the sale and no items
may be removed from the sale until settled for.
3. If any dispute arises between two or more bidders, the auctioneer may
settle the matter or may immediately put the lot up for sale again and
resell to the highest bidder. The decision of the auctioneer shall be final
and absolute.
4. Dan Stall, Inc., The Auction Team reserves the right to reject any and all
bids if deemed inappropriate to the item selling. The firm’s decision in this
matter is also final.
5. Although the utmost effort has been made to accurately describe the sale
lots, Dan Stall Inc., The Auction Team and principals shall not be responsi-
ble for correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or any defect in any
lot and makes absolutely no warranty in connection therewith. No allow-
ance will be made, or sale set aside, on account of any incorrectness, error
in cataloging, or imperfection not noted. No deduction will be allowed on
damaged articles as all goods being exposed for public exhibition are sold
“as is” and without recourse.
6. Dan Stall Inc., The Auction Team reserves the right to withdraw from the
sale any of the listed items or to sell items not listed, and to group one or
more lots and subdivide the lots whenever the best interest of the seller
will be served.
7. The records of Dan Stall, Inc., The Auction Team will be taken as final in the
event of a dispute.
8. Persons attending during the exhibition, sale, or removal of goods, assume
all risks of damage or loss to person and property and specifically release
Dan Stall Inc., The Auction Team from liability thereof. Neither Dan Stall
Inc, The Auction Team or principals shall be liable by reason of any defect
in, or condition of, the premises on which the sale is held.
9. All bidders by virtue of accepting their assigned number agree they have
read these terms and agree to be bound thereby.
10. Questions regarding the terms and conditions of this auction must be
stated prior to the beginning of the sale.
11. Statements or corrections made in regard to lot descriptions during the
sale take precedence over the printed material
12. Any sales or other taxes, where applicable, must be paid by the purchases
over and above the successful bid.

During the Live Auction, everyone with
a necklace stands up. The auctioneer
will instruct everyone standing to put
their hand on their “head” or their “tail”.
He will flip a coin and if the coin side
matches your hand location you remain
standing. If it does not, you either take
off a necklace or if you have none left,
you sit down.
Game winner wins the 50/50 up to $2,000. Must be present to
win. Prize will be awarded the week following the auction.
