Dear students,

You can now proudly consider yourself a student of
Technische Universität Ilmenau.

You are now studying at a university that is both modern and at the
same time rich in tradition.

Modern, because the TU Ilmenau does everything it can to offer its
students, that means you, future-oriented research and teaching.
Rich in tradition, because it represents over 125 years of engineering
education.

Personally, I would like to promise you that we will do all we can to
ensure that you will achieve an outstanding university degree.
You should feel comfortable so that you can be successful in your
studies.

I know that the first period at the university is not easy. As a mem-
ber of the TU Ilmenau, you are now part of the university communi-
ty.
Everyone who has things to do on the university campus - staff,
teachers and students - should support each other in order to enjoy
working and living together here. Therefore, I can only encourage
you to approach us with questions, suggestions and criticism.

This way the TU Ilmenau can quickly turn into your university.

Univ.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil.

Dear freshmen!

We call freshmen Erstis in German, which is an ‚affectionate‘
term for first semester students.

As members of the ErstiWoche (First-Week-Events) orga-
nization team and tutors for freshmen, we are pleased to
welcome you at the TU Ilmenau, and to accompanying you
into the everyday life of the university.

In addition to the information events at the university, you
can expect numerous events and activities during the Ersti-
Woche organized by us, students who are already studying
here. These activities will ease your start of studying in Ilme-
nau. Whether at the daily breakfast or during the city rallye,
where you will get to know your new home with a lot of fun,
it will never be boring.

The ErstiWoche is a great opportunity to meet other students
and to get to know each other. Together with your tutors
and your seminar group you will discover life on campus and
in Ilmenau. You can find our program on the following web-
site www.erstiwoche.de.
We are looking forward to see you at the Welcome Barbecue
in Ilmenau on Sunday, October 4, 2020.

Yours Martin und Kai
