Raise Awareness - Carbon Neutral commitment from Bid Stage - First FIFA World Cup to neutralize all the emissions including fans international travel - Awareness raising workshops - Sponsoring and participations of local and regional sustainability events
Inventory - Estimation of carbon emissions related to the Tournament with inclusion of construction - Inventories are available for previous FIFA World Cups - Third party consultant is appointed by FIFA to prepare the Carbon inventory report - Publishing ex ante Carbon Inventory report for the Tournament in 2019
Mitigate - The SC is implementing best practices during stadium construction: - Efficient design for lower energy and water consumption - Reuse and recycle of water and materials - Efficient waste management strategies - GSAS certification for all Stadiums - Other contributors for reduced carbon footprint are : - Compact tournament - Use of Doha Metro for transportation
Offset Emissions which cannot be reduced will be offset as follows: - Local and Regional projects - Projects motivated through SC which are not under the boundary of the Tournament. - Projects with multiple sustainability benefits - Supported the development of Global Carbon Trust - Identifying and supporting development of offset projects
