Thank you for your support

On behalf of Tandridge District Council we
want to thank our staff, residents,
businesses, parish councils, Tandridge
Voluntary Action and many community
groups, as well as our partners across
Surrey, for all their support and community
teamwork over the last two months.
Although it is a very difficult time, there are
a lot of positives to be found in the current
situation.

Please remember to stay alert to stay safe

We can all help control the virus if we all stay alert, by:

Staying at home as much as possible.
Working from home if you can.
       Limiting contact with other people.
Keeping two metres apart from others if you go out.
       Washing your hands regularly.
Not leaving home if you or anyone in your household has symptoms.

                                                                           /

Spending time outdoors

Following recent government advice, people can now spend more time outdoors in public
spaces enjoying the fresh air with members of your household or with one person who is
not in your household, as long as you stay two metres apart. We can now:

Exercise outside as long as we want and as many times each day as we like.
Use public spaces for picnics, sunbathing or relaxing.
Use public allotments and outdoor sports courts or facilities, like tennis or basketball
      courts.
Play golf. Please visit the course’s website for opening details and guidance on
social distancing. If you are walking on public footpaths which go through a golf
course, please stay on the path to avoid being hit by golf balls.
Travel further to enjoy time outside. There are no restrictions on how far we can
travel in England, but these journeys should only be made by cycling, walking or
driving your car and you should avoid taking public transport.

Guidance on how to enjoy our green spaces safely is also available.

New government advice on response to coronavirus

The government has also produced detailed guidance about its plan for how and when the
UK will adjust its response to the coronavirus. Some shorter guidance is also available,
which sets out:

Guidance to help people understand how to travel safely during the coronavirus
      outbreak in England.
Updated guidance on social distancing in England, as well as advice on how to stay
      safe when leaving your home.
Some frequently asked questions about what people can and can’t do during the
      outbreak.

Community helpline

The Surrey Community Helpline is available on 0300 200 1008 Monday to Friday, 8am to
6pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 2pm. SMS: 0786 0053 465 for Deaf and hearing
impaired residents only (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm). It can:

Help direct residents who need support to services who can help, such as picking
up shopping, prescription collections or having someone who can be a telephone
      friend.
Provide advice on where to register your offer of help to support your community.

In addition, help and support across the district is available covering:

                                                                                                 /

New home schooling activities
from SES Water

SES Water has launched a new website
to help primary school children learn more
about the importance of water, climate
change and biodiversity while they are
spending more time at home.

The free online resource, called ‘Flow Zone’, will teach children about water, from
collection through to treatment and supply. The site includes plenty of interactive games,

                                                                                             /

practical activities, experiments and a competition for the whole family to get involved in,
as well as information and advice about water efficiency.

Fun activities for kids of all ages
A range of activities for young children (and some big kids too!) are available online to help
keep brains stimulated:

Ever built a cardboard chair? What about staging your own balloon car race? The
James Dyson Foundation has a number of activities and challenges to try at home,
      using normal household objects.
CBeebies has a number of different free online games for children aged up to six
      years old.
The Science Museum’s website has a number of experiments you can try from
      home.

Woldingham School helping to
protect health workers
Woldingham School’s Design and
Technology team is producing face visors
to help protect local frontline health and
care workers against COVID-19. So far,
more than 1,000 have been distributed
within the NHS to care homes and other
health care professionals. If you need
visors, you can get in touch with
Woldingham school at
marketing@woldinghamschool.co.uk.

More information is available on the
school’s website.

It’s great to see other schools in the district, including Warlingham School and Sixth Form
College and Oxted School, also producing PPE for our NHS, care and key workers.

Information for parents and students on re-opening of schools,
colleges and nurseries /
Plans to potentially open schools, colleges and early years settings across England to
more children and young people were set out earlier this week. Extra guidance has also
been published, which sets out a range of protective measures to ensure education
settings remain safe places.
