Built in 1936 by the Public Works
Administration as part of Franklin
Delano Roosevelt’s “New Deal,” the
Lake City Bean Market rose to acclaim
as the world’s largest truck auction of
green beans in Lake City’s agricultural
prime. Farmers drove to centrally
located Lake City from all over the
South to bring their bean crops to
market; traders would then ship the
beans north on one of the many freight
trains that rolled through Lake City
each day.
The Bean Market now serves as a
multi-purpose cultural and community
center at the heart of downtown Lake City. Residing across the street from the beautiful Village Green, the building
has been completely restored to offer a unique and flexible rental space as a venue for conferences & meetings,
weddings & receptions and private parties. The facility includes 8,500 square feet of space, with flexible setup options
that include a 5,800-square-foot open floor, a 750-square-foot stage with a 14-foot projection screen with a sound
system, and a convenient catering kitchen including ice maker. Banquet tables & chairs are available as well.

     Red Bone Alley
       1903 W. Palmetto St. - 843-673-0035
1 private meeting space, seats 30

If you’ve never tasted shrimp and grits, you don’t
know what you’re missing! And plenty of folks in
Florence agree that Red Bone Alley has the recipe
to beat.
Red Bone Alley is a unique Florence eatery that
is famous for its decor and Southern fusion menu.
The restaurant itself consists of two floors with an
interior that recreates the outdoor experience
of Charleston. There are Lowcountry landscape
murals painted by artist David Boatwright, a back
porch with glowing lanterns, an upstairs balcony
overlooking the alley, and a children’s area
complete with an old ice cream truck.
If the space itself doesn’t persuade you, the menu
will. Red Bone Alley is famous for much more
than its Lowcountry Shrimp and Grits. Customers
pour in for entrees such as their Grilled Sweet Tea
Marinated Pork Chop and Pimento Cheese Burger.
Red Bone Alley prepares all of its entrees to order,
and uses only the freshest local ingredients. For
example, the rice comes from a plantation in
neighboring Darlington County.

If you don’t know who Shoney Bear® is, you should stop in
at a Shoney’s restaurant in Florence where they’ve been
serving families for 60 years.
Shoney’s is famous for its multiple buffets and one-of-a-
kind strawberry pie. They offer a breakfast and lunch/
dinner buffet as well as special buffets like brunch or
seafood. They also offer a plentiful cold bar where
you can make your very own strawberry shortcake or
customize a fresh salad with all the fixings.
A typical Shoney’s breakfast can include fluffy, buttermilk
pancakes; fresh fruit; and biscuits with sausage gravy.
You can even have eggs “your way” straight from
the kitchen to your table. For lunch, dive into cubed
steak with peppers and onions, golden fried chicken or
homemade meatloaf. If you dine in on Friday nights, you
can enjoy their seafood buffet that includes peel and eat
shrimp, baked fish and deviled crab.
If you’re not in the mood for the buffet, try a classic
entree from their menu like an All-American Burger or
Country Fried Steak.
For your next meeting, book a private room at Shoney’s
