10Our Family Courses – A wonderful Opportunity for all your Family to bond, to improve your English,
explore the Irish Culture and make Friends from all over the World
Who is this Family Courses have been designed for parents and their children, grandparents and their grandchildren, aunts and
course for uncles and their nephews and nieces.
This is an ideal course for those who wish to spend time together and combine an English Language Course with a
wonderful holiday in Ireland.
We are proud about the fact that many families come back to us year after year and tell their friends about us.
Adult GE The General English Group Course is the course for parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and young learners
Course aged 16+.
This course takes place in our main building. The minimum entry level is A1.
Cool Kids This course is tailored towards 5 to 10 year olds. Classes are split by ages:
Course 5 to 7 year olds are being taught together and 8 to 10 year olds are being taught together.
On quiet weeks all Cool Kids students will be taught in one classroom.
Our youngest students learn English through a variety of child centred, fun-filled activities under the expert supervision
of fully qualified staff. Activities include songs, board games, arts and crafts, and drama.
Classes take place in our main school building. Most children are either beginners (A0) or A1 students of English.
Keen Teens Our teenage courses are tailored towards 11 to 15 year olds. Our Keen Teens are being placed into groups according
Courses to their levels of English. Keen Teens Courses are General English Courses focusing on topics that are interesting and
relevant to teenage leaners.
Most Keen Teens Courses take place in the Presentation Secondary School which is located just around the corner
from our main school building.

Who is this This programme is suitable for ambitious and highly motivated students who wish to attend a Secondary School in Ireland
programme for for one or two terms or a full academic year. Students must be aged between 14 and 17 and have a minimum English
language level of B1.
The benefits of Attending a secondary school in an English speaking country has become an important aspect of the education path for
secondary school many European and Non-European students. Having spend a school term or more abroad will standout on any application
stays abroad for a job or for further studies. It will widen the young person’s employment opportunities.
Why studying in Ireland is a welcoming English speaking country and Irish people are renowned for their friendliness. Education has been a
Ireland / County key factor in making Ireland one of the fastest growing economies in the word.
Wexford County Wexford is a safe place for young people. They are also vibrant places offering diverse activities in culture,
recreation and sports. Parents can be assured that they are sending their teenage children to a caring environment.
Some information Years 1 to 3 :Junior cycle (starting age 12) culminating with the Junior Certificate. Subjects include Math, English, Science,
on the Irish a Language, Business Studies and Irish. International students are exempt from Irish.
school system Year 4: Transition Year.(average age 15/16). This year is the most popular year for visiting international students.
Transition Year provides traditional academic subjects and also allows for the exploration of many other subject areas along
with outside projects and cultural experience.
Years 5 and 6 (average age: 16/17/18): This Cycle culminates with the Leaving Certificate. These two years have greater
emphasis on individual research abilities, study skills and a more analytical approach to subject matters. The Leaving
Certificate standard is equivalent to the UK A-level examination.
Homestay Our host families are visited by our own staff and treat their student as if they would their own family member. We do our
Accommodation utmost to match each student with the most suitable host family. Homestay accommodation includes breakfasts, packed
lunches and evening meals. On weekends the student has all meals with the family.

TuitionAccommodation Options Full Board Accommodation with a Local Family (Homestay) Experience life in a host family and improve your fluency by talking to local people. Our host families have been carefully selected and most of them have been welcoming students from The Slaney Language Centre for many years. They will make sure that you feel welcome and at home during your stay. We have a variety of host families of different backgrounds and with different interest. Some of them are single people or mature couples; others have children and a very lively household. Some families have pets. If you have any preferences please let us know. Please inform us of any special requirements you have, e.g. you are a vegetarian, or have allergies to pets, or if you have any medical condition that requires a special diet such as food suitable for vegans, people with diabetes or coeliac. Additional fees apply. You can choose between a single room, a room with private bathroom or (if you are travelling with a friend) a shared room. Renting a Room – self-catering A few or our host families (usually single people) rent out rooms on a self-catering basis. If you prefer to be independent, go shopping and cook for yourself, this would be the right choice for you. Full Immersion Host Family Stay (Homestay Only) Available during Easter and Summer holidays If you are 12 to 15 years of age and like to be fully integrated in the day to day life of a host family, this would be the right choice for you. We place our young students with host families who have children. Homestay Only families are located in a safe country environment. You be part of the family for the duration of your stay. We recommend a minimum language level of B1 for a full immersion homestay. Self-catering Apartments Renting an apartment in Wexford town is a good choice for families attending our family courses at Easter, in July and August. There are a variety of apartments located within walking distance to The Slaney Language Centre or a short bus ride away. Most apartment owners insist on arrival and departure days being Saturdays. Arrivals and Departures
The majority of our language students arrive at Dublin Airport. There are many convenient ways to travel to Wexford:
The two bus companies WEXFORD BUS and BUS EIREANN operate hourly direct buses from Dublin Airport to Wexford Town. Bus
car parks are clearly signposted from the Arrivals Hall.
Bus timetables can be found on the websites of both bus companies.
If you have booked host family accommodation and you arrive in Wexford town before 23.00, a member of your host family will meet
you at Wexford Bus station (also known as O Hanrahan Station or Redmond Square).
If you wish we can organise a MEET AND GREET for you meaning that a designated person will meet you in the Arrivals Hall and
walk with you to the bus stop.
A Meet and Greet Service including assistance with the check in may be booked for the departure flight.
The Slaney Language Centre organises Group Bus Transfers in July and August. If your flight arrives between 11.00 and 18.00 on a
SUNDAY you can avail of these discounted services. Please note that you may have to wait for students arriving later than you. This
discounted service is also available for the departure flight if your flight leaves on Sundays between 11.00 and 18.00
We can organise a taxi for you from Dublin Airport to your accommodation in Wexford.
Insurance Options
As a member of the leading language school association MEI, we have Enrolled Learner Protection in place meaning that in case
of an MEI school going unexpectedly out of business, you will be able to complete your course at another MEI school.
Student Medical Insurance
Please make sure to bring your European Health card. This entitles you to free emergency hospital care and attendance at certain
doctors. It does not cover elective, medical or dental treatment. Any person undergoing medical treatment should bring a medical
certificate and sufficient medication to cover their stay. Non-EU students can take out Overseas Student Medical insurance
(Medicover) through us.
Fee Protection Insurance
We strongly recommend you to take out insurance against loss of fees, personal effects etc. that you may incur due to cancellations
or early departures. Fee Protection insurance can be taken out through our language centre.
