THE NATION-Boys Edition March 2021 Dear NY Elite FC Boys Families and Staff, This past year has been like no other and we hope that everyone has been staying healthy during these challenging times. The club has done everything possible to ensure your safety, and we appreciate everyone’s cooperation in maintaining a safe environment within our soccer community. If you haven’t already purchased yours, we still have NY Elite FC masks for sale to match your team gear and support our scholarship program (see ordering details in the newsletter). As you may be aware, NY Elite FC has applied to join the MLS NEXT program. We are awaiting notification of status and will let you know when we have updates. In the meantime, teams will be participating in the USYS National League/EDP program, playing in the State Cup and in the CDYSL spring league, where applicable for each team. Spring EDP North Atlantic Club V Club spring 2021 schedules have been posted. State Cup will be single elimination and games are in process of being finalized. CDYSL and tournament schedules are still pending. We are tentatively planning for the U13-U19 boys teams to participate in the USYS Regional Showcase Managed by EDP New England 2021 during the Memorial Day Weekend. We understand not having confirmed dates makes planning challenging and appreciate your patience. This edition of the newsletter will cover updates from last season as well as the current season to get you caught up on all our latest announcements, recognitions and club news. We have added a new monthly Parent Forum Meeting with a representative from each team to expand communications between our families and administration. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your coach, Parent Forum representative, or Director of Coaching Jon Bain. ATLANTIC CLUB V CLUB SCHEDULES NY ELITE MASK SALE
EDP Spring 2021 schedules for 2008/U13 teams and NY Elite FC is holding a mask sale, with proceeds going

NY ELITE FC BOYS PARENT FORUM
The Parent Forum is a new communication tool started in January 2021 to provide teams an open channel for asking
questions, sharing concerns and issues, and suggesting improvements to the club administration. The team
representatives below attend monthly Parent Forum meetings to receive information from the club to pass on to you,
as well to as have them be the voice of your team. Feel free to reach out to your representative with your comments
prior to the first Monday of each month when our meetings are held. We value everyone’s feedback to help us continue
to be the preferred youth soccer club in the Capital District.

COLLEGE RECRUITING INFORMATION
With the 2003, 2004 2005 and 2006 players planning for college soccer, having adequate information
to help you make the right decisions is crucial. Official National College Athletic Association (NCAA)
information is located at www.ncaa.org. Your NY Elite FC coaches are also a good source of
information to help plan your future soccer career and answer any questions you might have.
Preparation should begin in the freshmen year and include:
• Creation of a Soccer Profile to document your experience and achievements
• Compiling a video clip containing key plays to highlight your skills (max 5 minutes)
• Contacting College Coaches at schools where you are interested in attending and playing,
and notifying them when/where they can see you play
• Participate in College Showcase Tournaments with your team*
• Attending College ID Camps and Showcase Weekends to play in front coaches who may not be
able to see you at tournaments*
• Visiting local area colleges (while traveling for showcase tournaments)*
*NOTE: With COVID-19 restrictions in effect, college recruiting opportunities may be impacted
and will be covered to help you navigate through this process

This scholarship is presented in honor and recognition of Edward “Ed” Placke for his years of service to the sport of
youth soccer in the Capital District. Edward Placke dedicated many years establishing soccer programs for children
to play in a fun, competitive and enriching environment. Many young soccer players have grown and developed into
fine young adults and athletes through programs Ed spearheaded. He retired more than 10 years ago from soccer in
the Capital District and New York Elite FC would like to thank him for what he has established and for what will
continue to carry on for years to come. In the spirit of New York Elite FC Soccer, the club will award four $250 college
scholarships to players who best exemplify the spirit of true sportsmanship in the sport of soccer. Watch for
application announcements in mid-May 2021 for graduating seniors.

April 2020 Toilet Paper Challenge
When the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all activities one year ago in March 2020, supplies of staple
items such as toilet paper became limited and players needed some juggling exercises, they were
caught on video social distancing while practicing at home. This will stay with us as a symbol of what
we did to get through this historical event. VIEW VIDEO
Portland Timbers vs. NYCFC July 2019
A group of our players and their families got to watch our club founder and MLS Portland Timbers
assistant coach Miles Joseph defeat NYCFC 1-0 on a pleasant summer evening at Yankee Stadium on
July 7, 2019. They were able to go down to the field to get a ground kevel view of the stadium, and
after the match, Miles met with everyone to say hello and sign jerseys. What a fun a memorable trip
