Parking spaces in XXL format
Since the beginning of January 2017, a new special construction
regulation has become effective in North Rhine-Westphalia. This
regulation specifies that parking spaces in new car parks and
parking garages must have a minimum width of 2.45 m (instead
of the previous 2.3 m). The reason for this is that in the last few
years, vehicles have continued to become wider. Since existing
car parks are not to be forced to convert their spaces, other ideas
are being sought for them. RTB has the perfect solution here: at
the entrance to the car park, the height and width of the vehicle
are recorded and it is classified accordingly. If it is one of the
so-called XXL vehicles, the driver will be allotted an appropriate-
ly sized parking space. Of course, this system also work with
small vehicles. Thus, RTB’s intelligent car park management
provides for better interaction.
