First Aid Training

Introduction
NPW First Aid courses are bespoke and tailored to meet the needs of schools. All are delivered by Strong
Roots Training who only use trainers that have past professional contact with young people (such as youth
workers, SEN staff, etc.). Unlike some training providers, our courses are regulated by Qualsafe, an Ofqual
recognised Awarding Organisation, established by experts in the first aid training industry. Strict limits also
apply on the number of trainees on courses at any one session. This means we always excel in quality.

We are able to provide the training at your school to fit around you on days of your choice; or on
prearranged dates at NPW offices, Francis House, Plaistow, London E.13 9PJ detailed in the attachment. All
courses undertaken at Francis House include refreshments and lunch on each day.

Governance
School governors/trustees play an important role in the education system, making key decisions that will
affect the future of school children in the local area and beyond. At NPW we provide a wide variety of
development and training opportunities to governors/trustees.

Each course provided is classified under an aspect of governance; Skills, Strategic or Knowledge and is also
categorised under one or more competencies of the DfE’s Competency Framework for Governance 2017.
Please see the NPW Governor Development Programme for the full categorisation of NPW’s courses.

References to ‘governors’ or ‘governing board’ means whoever is responsible for fulfilling governance functions -
whether that be the governors of a maintained school, the trustees of an academy trust or MAT, or the local governors
to whom the function in question has been delegated by the MAT Board.

The Training and Development programme for Governor's has come to an
end and we will resume for 2018/19 at the beginning of the Autumn term.
