Transformations | Call to Artists
2019 City of St. Catharines Annual Juried Exhibit
September 16, 2019 – March 13, 2020

“The Only Thing That is Constant Is Change” – Heraclitus

Artists are invited to submit artwork proposals for a new exhibit at City Hall.
“Transformations” asks the artist to investigate the positive and negative
transitions and transformations that shape human beings and the world.

As the seasons change, we are reminded of how quickly things that once
were are no longer. We are constantly teetering on moments of change,
brought on by memories, decisions, histories and futures. What hangs in the
balance, what will reach its limit, and where and when? These
transformations can leave behind tokens or a scar.

This exhibit seeks to focus on transformations that face our artists and our
world on a daily basis such as, psychological, environmental, global, etc.

Submissions of original artwork created within the past three (3) years will
be considered from professional, student and amateur artists. Artists will be
paid an exhibition fee and their work will be considered for acquisition into
the City of St. Catharines’ Civic Art Collection.

The Jury will take the following criteria into consideration when selecting
work for the exhibit:
   Originality
   Artistic merit and interest
 Relationship and response to exhibit theme
 Creativity of expression and medium used
 Clarity and effectiveness of Artist’s Statement
 The ability to display the work of art
 Final works selected will collectively
o Provide a variety of perspectives on the theme of the exhibit.
o Reflect the artistic community of St. Catharines and Niagara.

 Submission Deadline: Monday June 24, 2019 at 4:30 p.m.
