UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties
(COP26)
For the first time, the UK will host the 26th UN Climate Change Conference
of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow. Glasgow is often translated as meaning
‘Dear Green Place’ and is 4th in the world, and highest in the UK, in the
Global Destination Sustainability Index – making it the perfect place to host a
sustainable COP. Surrounded by the river, the city and its parks, the location
will inspire attendees to tackle climate change and protect the planet for

Building a Scalable and Sustainable Energy
Transition Mechanism (ETM) for Southeast Asia:
Partnership Launch
The Asian Development Bank, the Government of the Republic of
Indonesia, and the Government of the Republic of the Philippines, will
convene to announce the launch of a partnership to design and establish
an Energy Transition Mechanism (ETM) to accelerate the transition from
coal to clean energy in Southeast Asia, in a just and affordable manner.
ETM is an innovative model which would use blended finance to accelerate
the retirement of coal power plants and develop green, renewable energy
to replace it.

EU Energy Day at COP26: the EU leading the
global energy transition
EU Energy Day is organised at the EU pavilion of the United Nations Climate
Change Conference (COP26) in Glasgow. It offers a series of high-level
sessions that will highlight the EU’s leadership in the energy transition and
engagement towards a global green recovery and just transition. Each
session will allow policy-makers, CEOs and civil society leaders to discuss
global initiatives advancing the Paris Agreement’s objectives.

World Climate Summit
World Climate Summit – The Investment COP taking place in Glasgow during
COP26, is linked to the priority action areas and ambition of the COP26
Presidency, builds on net-zero climate commitments and strengthens

Conference on Creative Economy 2030:
Imagining and Delivering a Robust, Inclusive,
and Sustainable Recovery
Cohosted by the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI), ASEAN
Secretariat, University of Indonesia’s Institute for Economic and Social
Research, Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations,
and British Council, this conference will feature new policy papers on
creative economy development and its role in delivering a robust and
inclusive post-pandemic recovery in developing Asia and the Pacific. It will
also explore how the post-COVID-19 revival of the creative economy could
advance the realization of the SDGs, setting the stage for possible action
during Indonesia’s G20 presidency in 2022.

Resilience for the Urban Poor Forum

The Business Country Desk (BCD), a regional initiative designed by
