Trumbull, CT—March 30, 2014 - The 2014 Under Armour HS Elite 50 Showcase brought to you by Elite Sports
was attended by over 130 High School prospects from all parts of Connecticut. Players from the top HS teams in CT
were represented including the top players from State Champions Sacred Heart and Bridgeport Central and runner ups
Fairfield Prep and Career Magnet. Also in attendance were players from perennial powers Hillhouse (New Haven),
Immaculate (Danbury), Bunnell (Stratford), Bassick (Bridgeport), University High School (Hartford), Notre Dame-
Fairfield, Capital Prep (Hartford), Harding (Bridgeport), Wilbur Cross (New Haven), Hyde (Hamden), and Trinity
Catholic (Stamford) to name a few. Fresh off the CIAC playoffs these players were ready to showcase their talents in
preparation for another season of competitive AAU basketball. The teams were split up into grades and then further
split into random teams of players to offer great competition opportunities. With three full courts in action at all times,
you could find a great game on each court. There were DII and DIII college coaches in attendance watching the games
first hand and left the gym with plenty of notes and athletes to consider in the near future. Here are some of the
players that caught our eye.
UNDER ARMOUR HIGH SCHOOL ELITE 50 SHOWCASE HOSTED BY ELITE SPORTS SPONSORED BY UNDER ARMOUR
J.J. Conway —Fairfield Warde– JJ is a shooter. Point blank if you leave him open behind the three point
line you can count it. JJ handled the ball very well looking for open teammates throughout the games. The
thing you notice about him is that he never stands still always moving to the open and soft spots of a defense.
On several occasions he was able to trail the play and shoot uncontested jump shots.

                                                                                                    9th Grade

Clay Westermann—Notre Dame – Clay plays with good self confidence. He handles the ball effectively
and looks ahead to find the open man streaking down the court. He shoots the ball with range with several
long distance makes. He appeared a bit unselfish at times but was prodded on by his teammates to shoot the
ball. He plays smart defensively and doesn’t take any unnecessary risks always getting back on the break.

                                                                                                    9th Grade

Tommy Lewis —Huntington — Good spot up shooter. Looks to pass the ball and cuts to receive it on the
give and go. Tommy was able to get into the gaps and look for open shooters or the big men. Lots of effort on
                    both sides of the court.

                                                                                                    9th Grade

Kyle Partyka — University High School — Kyle is a fearless competitor that is not afraid to get his hands
dirty in the paint. This coming from a guy that has great range on his shot making many from three point
range. He drives to the basket hard and finishes but can stop on a dime and pull up for a mid-range jump shot.
He has a decent enough handle to get by his man and is adept with both hands. Instant offense.

                                                                                 10th Grade

Joey Wallace —Immaculate – Joey demonstrated some of the better ball handling in the showcase. He’s
very quick off the dribble and got to the rack easily. He is also strong enough to bang down low and attacks
the offensive glass. He has high IQ and makes plays for others around him. Pin point passing leading directly
to baskets.

                                                                               11th Grade

Justin Campbell —Career High School – Justin creates space in the paint with his physicality. He was
generally one of the stronger kids in the showcase and muscled up many shots through and around contact. He
was also blocking lots of shots intimidating drivers to the paint. A workhorse with a relentless attitude.

                                                                               11th Grade

Thomas Nolan — Fairfield Prep — Thomas demonstrated a very savvy handle with the ball using several
moves to get into the lane to finish himself or make plays for his teammates. He plays hard and strong all the
time and usually won the 50-50 battle on loose balls. He’s equally adept and making the soft drop pass or the
spectacular lob pass which he did on several occasions. He also demonstrated great shooting range.

                                                                               11th Grade

Brandon Henry — Abbott Tech— Brandon plays the game at a high level. He has good bounce that al-
lows him to rebound on both ends. He can slash to the basket and make difficult shots and will hit the open
jumper often. He has a high motor and is around the basketball. Has a very explosive first step.

                                                                               11th Grade

championship. He was slashing into the paint and finishing through contact and also coming outside to display
a sweet stroke from outside. He made several outstanding passes that lead to easy finishes. On defense, he
exhibited a knack for playing the passing lanes leading to several steals.

UNDER ARMOUR HIGH SCHOOL ELITE 50 SHOWCASE HOSTED BY ELITE SPORTS SPONSORED BY UNDER ARMOUR
Donte Peeler —Bunnell – Donte was a beast on the boards on both sides of the court. He used his strength
well to carve out space to make power moves down low. He made great use of pump fakes to be able to get his
shot up against multiple defenders. He was able to score around the goal frequently.

                                                                                  11th Grade

CJ Davidson — Notre Dame—Fairfield — CJ is a bulldog. He is powerfully built and dribbles the ball
low and tight to the ground making it impossible to strip or steal. He uses his speed to get into the lane to fin-
ish through contact and to make plays for others. He also comes around the curls with his hands always ready
in a catch and shoot position. We also observed him sky for several out of area rebounds despite his smaller
stature. He is always keeping his head up looking to make the outlet pass to the open man. High IQ.

                                                                                  11th Grade

blocking shots. He posts on his man very hard and looks to make a move to the basket or hit the cutters. He
was involved in several pick and rolls and was able to finish the plays off with either hand. Solid and funda-
mental.

                                                                                  11th Grade

Brien Wilson — University High School — Brien is a 6’6” forward that used his length to block several
shots out of his area. He was also able to use his long arms to get rebounds over the top without fouling. On
several occasions, Brien popped out and made a few jump shots including a three pointer. If he continues to
work on his body and put on some muscle, he may be more effective inside. He also needs to develop a go to
move once inside the paint.

                                                                                  11th Grade

was a strong dribbler to the rack and consistently made the 15 ft jump shot. He also was involved in several
pick and rolls as the passer and made several outstanding plays. Marcus made plays for his teammates with his
activity.

                                                                                11th Grade

Dontell Glover — Hillhouse — Dontell was an all energy player that left everything on the court. He
drives to the rack strongly and finishes and has a good handle. Defensively, is where he stood out today pres-
suring his man up and down the court and deflecting or stealing passes several times. Quick feet and always in
the passing lane.

                                                                                11th Grade

Kaleb Lutton — Xavier — Kaleb used his strong body and broad shoulders to carve out multiple rebounds
during the day. He would then turn and look to outlet the pass for a fast break. He was able to finish inside
with layups and tip ins because it was hard to keep him off the glass. Defensively he pushed his man out of the
paint making the shots more difficult. He was not afraid to throw his weight around.

                                                                                11th Grade

jump shot from the 15-18 ft area as well as several long distance threes. He rebounds his position well and has
a good enough handle to bring the ball up and start the offense. On defense he has outstanding quickness that
led to steals and break outs.

                                                                                11th Grade

Dondre Daniels —Bridgeport Central – Dondre is another quick efficient guard that excels at getting into
the paint. He can get by his defenders and finish strongly at the basket. He hustles all over the court and does
not give up on the play. Will steal the ball from behind if you are not paying attention. Looks to make plays as
well.

                                                                                11th Grade
