Open to the world
We’re open to the world today so we can influence the world tomorrow.
The University brings people with new ideas and perspectives together in
a spirit of interdisciplinary innovation and collaboration. This has already
shaped the world in so many ways, from the great thinkers of the Scottish
Enlightenment, to the discovery of the Higgs boson particle and the
development of a genetically engineered vaccine for Hepatitis B. Our 21
Schools, across three academic Colleges, embody our approach.

“Being a developing and populated country we [in
Bangladesh] had a great demand for quality education
but many of the universities are located in the capital
Dhaka, a megacity of around 20 million people. It is an
expensive city to live in for students. Online programmes
can be a wonderful addition. Working and studying at the
same time is a great opportunity for me and will be an
 advantage for many people.”

The LARIF – situated close to the Roslin Institute at the
School's Easter Bush campus – houses an unparalleled
combination of imaging, surgical, gene editing and infection
containment facilities. It offers exceptional specialist
capability for in-depth studies into the health and wellbeing
of all major farmed livestock.

Also housed at the LARIF is the Wellcome Trust-funded
Critical Care Laboratory for Large Animals, which supports
the study of large animal biology with all the resources of
a human hospital. Highly skilled specialists in veterinary
anaesthesia will provide round-the-clock care for animals
involved in studies.

Advanced medical imaging equipment on site, including
CT, MRI, fluoroscopy and ultrasound, enables detailed
understanding of anatomy and body composition in livestock,
as well as monitoring progression of disease processes in
different organs, and their response to treatment.

Studies at the LARIF will also investigate human conditions.
Large animal species are valuable biomedical models
for studying human diseases and developing new medical
technologies.

The UK formally left the European Union (EU) on David, MSc Global Food Security & Nutrition (Online Learning)

Final fee regulations are not yet available but are expected
to clarify fee status for those with settled status and for
Irish citizens (under the Common Travel Agreement).
