The Official Opening of the Carnival was held at the
conclusion of the Double Rise event. As with 2018,
the Mayor of Campaspe Shire, Cr Adrian Weston,
officially opened proceedings but this time it was in
windy conditions with threatening rain.
As part of the Opening Ceremony, the Hall of Fame
Induction was also conducted. This year it was a
dual induction with Gary Hayden and his son, Glen
Hayden, both inducted at the same time. Both Gary
and Glen are worthy recipients of the Hall of Fame
honour with both having achieved considerable
honours at both State, National and International

January 2020 – Clay Target 23CLUB NEWS Lake Albert Club
Lake Albert’s 41st Anniversary
Well, another year has come and gone since
we’ve written another couple of pages, and
once again on the long weekend of October
5th & 6th, the Lake Albert Gun Club on the
Coorong at Meningie in South Australia
hosted another successful Anniversary shoot.
This year was Lake Albert’s 41st Anniversary of
having 2-day shoots. For a club that was established
in 1948 and now in its 71st year, it has seen its fair
share of changes and continues to strive forward and
to grow.
The week leading up to our weekend was certainly
a bit sketchy with uncommon extreme heat and also
extreme wet days for this time of the year – but the
weekend was nothing short of perfect.
Friday afternoon saw a few shooters coming in for
a practice and setting up camp for the 2 days ahead.
About 28 people made it out on the Friday night to
