April 2019
We're Springing Into Action
March was a busy month for us at the shelter. More than
1,100 animals came into our shelter -- of those, more than
390 were dogs and 700 were cats! Thanks to the incredible
work of staff, volunteers, rescues, adopters and our
interested stakeholders, our live release remained above 90
percent.
We also saw how much our work means to you, our
community. You helped us double our monthly donor goal
during the launch of our new Sustaining member program,
the Society for Second Chances. Thanks to your support... I
got to run a very uphill race (who knew!), the 5K Conshy
Classic, in a cat suit. We hope to continue this momentum as
we move into the busiest time of year. Every little bit of
sustaining support helps, and we are deeply grateful for all
we received!
On April 13 and 14, we are partnering with Harley's Haven
and the Ian Somerhalder foundation to bring free vet services
at a clinic at the Cecil B. Moore Center. Also don't forget our
Gala for Second Chances on May 3, 2019. We can't wait to
get all dressed up for an evening filled with fun, food and
great folks! Please get your tickets today

Bases are Loaded: Full House Event Success
Our March Full House event, which took place the very last
weekend of the month, was a huge success! We found homes
for 70 pets over three days, and opened up some much-
needed space in our dog kennels. As we move into what is
traditionally the busiest time of year - Spring and Summer -
we will continue to need your support adopting, fostering and
rescuing our wonderful Phila-bred dogs and cats.
ACCT Philly's First Annual Gala for Second Chances
May 3, 2019
We are so excited that our first Gala for Second Chances,
hosted by Fox 29's Lucy Noland, is a month away. Our Gala is
not just an opportunity for us to raise much-needed funds for
the thousands of animals in our care; it's an opportunity for
us to thank those who have been instrumental in the success
of our lifesaving work. The work we do, and the lives we save, is not possible
without our community of lifesavers and animal
advocates.
We have big plans for the coming year and we can't wait to
tell you about it at the Gala. Want to learn more, and
purchase tickets? Visit our Gala page to reserve your spot!
Are you a Love Local Partner or an Active Volunteer?
Email gala@acctphilly.org to receive a special registration
link. If you can't attend, consider donating - any amount -
towards covering the cost of an employee ticket!

April is our Spring Giving campaign!
Spring marks the start of our busy
season: hundreds of tiny newborn
kittens begin flowing into our shelter,
requiring around-the-clock care and
constant feeding. All this work requires
lots of supplies, which is made possible
by your donations.

donating funds? Check out our Amazon
Wishlist below! Here you can find all
the supplies we will need for our kittens
this season.
Send Us SuppliesThis past month we created a lot of Happy Endings! Check
out these happy tails, sent to us by fosters and adopters:
Dominic
Dominic was definitely one of the
smartest dogs at ACCT Philly- he was
also a star on our running team! After
months at the shelter, volunteer
favorite Dom finally found his fur-ever
home with adopters who are able to
help him continue learning how to be
the great dog he is. Happy tails,
Dominic!
Autumn
As you can see, Autumn is
irresistibly adorable. She's also extra
special, diagnosed with CH (Cerebellar
Hypoplasia) aka "wobbly kitten".
Autumn was scooped up by an
experienced adopter ready to offer her
a safe and loving home! Now Autumn is
a big foster sister to other CH kittens!
Thank you Lauren and family for giving
her a good life!
Kinley Joy
Kinley Joy came to us in pretty rough
shape: she has severe skin infections
and allergies, causing her to lose most
of her fur, her nails were extremely
overgrown, and she limped. After some
much needed TLC our favorite, most
smooshable pup found an amazing
adopter, who showers her in all the
love Kinley Joy deserves! We are so
happy for our favorite low-rider!This month we would like to shout-out Street Tails Animal
Rescue, one of our small but mighty partners who works
tirelessly every day to pull dogs from our shelter. We were
especially grateful when they tagged 5 dogs (half of their
capacity) for rescue at the beginning of March. Thank you
Street Tails for all you do!
We Need Feline Volunteers!

Easter Adoption Volunteers
Our Everyday Adoption Center (EAC) is looking for volunteer
coverage for the Easter event at the EAC! Volunteers will help
walk dogs, laundry, dishes, and talk to potential adopters.
Email offsite@acctphilly.org if interested in helping.
We will also need volunteers to help out at our main shelter,
especially during the weekend. Get in touch with our
Volunteer Coordinator, Cory, if you can help with our onsite
events! Email volunteer@acctphilly.org.Events Volunteers Spring is officially here and the shelter's busiest season is upon us! We would love to put together a team of volunteers dedicated to helping us with the many event opportunities that come our way. While we participate in multiple adoption events each month, it's equally important for ACCT Philly to take part in events purely for "publicity's sake"- we want to let everyone know who we are and what we offer! Do you like attending fun events for free, hanging out with other awesome volunteers, and telling everyone you meet about the wonderful pets available at our shelter (or the great services we offer to our community)? Then email volunteer@acctphilly.org to let us know you'd like to be an Events Volunteer! PB & J Day April 2 Peanut butter is the #1 requested treat by our shelter pups (can you blame them?) so for National PB & J Day, we want to have a little fun! Donate a jar of peanut butter or bag of PB-flavored treats and receive a fee-waived adoption at our main shelter or half off at our Everyday Adoption Center inside the Plymouth Meeting Petsmart. Volunteer Appreciation Day April 13 Volunteers, fosters, rescues and their families are welcome to join us for Volunteer Appreciation Day! From 1:00pm - 4:00pm join us for rice-sock decorating, face- painting, volunteer and foster orientations, music, and food. Brotherly Love Clinic April 13 - 14 ACCT Philly, Harley's Haven Dog Rescue and the Ian Somerhalder FoundationI are partnering together to bring
Philadelphians a FREE spay/neuter, vaccination, and microchipping clinic! Join us on Saturday April 13 and Sunday April 14th for this wonderful resource, services are first-come, first-serve! Surgery cut off is 1:00 PM for both days. Please bring vaccine/vet history if know, proof of residence and/or ID and this clinic is for residents of Philadelphia only. ***For more info, please visit: www.phillyvetclinic,com or send an email to phillyvetclinic@gmail.com*** Doggy Easter Egg Hunt April 14 On April 14th starting at 1:00pm, you and your pups are welcome to join us for an Easter egg hunt geared towards pups! Register for this event at: eventbrite.com, search "doggie- easter-egg-hunt", and visit our FB page for more details. Easter Adoption Event April 21 - 27 Join us for an Easter Egg-stravaganza! Adopt a pet from either our main shelter or our Everyday Adoption Center, and get your Easter egg prize! April 21 - 27, help us find homes for our wonderful pets and pick a prize to bring home with your new pet! Prizes range from treats, to a new dog bed - even a fee-waived adoption if you find the right egg! Email lifesaving@acctphilly.org with questions. Poetry Reading Event April 27 - 28 April 27th is National Tell a Story Day, and April 28th is the Great Poetry Reading Day! What better way to celebrate than by donating a book or poem to our shelter pets in exchange for a fee-waived adoption? Reading to cats and dogs in the shelter is one of our favorite activities, and is such a good way to spend time with our furry friends. Bring in your favorite stories and poems to share with them! As you can see, we have MANY events happening in April! Please visit our website or our Facebook Page to see events past April.
