In the heart of a town with a rich history and immense character, Drostdy Hotel, the finest Karoo gem, is found. This town, Graaff-Reinet,
was established in 1786 and has matured into a charming destination that is well-known for its blend of Cape Dutch, Victorian and Karoo architecture.
Uniquely, the town is surrounded, almost entirely, by the Camdeboo National Park which boasts spectacular wildlife and natural scenery.
Just as pleasing to the eye, Drostdy Hotel was initially built in the early 1800s and has its own fascinating story, having been refined
over the years into one of South Africa’s top 10 hotels. Although it bears modern touches and a contemporary atmosphere,
it remains true to its roots with furnishings and antiques that point to the past.
Guests will find this understated grande dame a comfortable retreat in the expansive Great Karoo.
Your Wedding
Drostdy Hotel hosts weddings on the basis that all hotel rooms are booked exclusively for the event. The hotel team offers an outstanding food and
beverage service and works with preferred suppliers to ensure the most spectacular day possible.

Wedding Package
TAILOR-MADE PACKAGES
Drostdy Hotel caters for wedding parties of up to 100 guests in
total. The hotel does, however, allow additional chairs, tables,
cutlery, crockery and glasses to be hired for your own account,
should you wish to host a larger group. Drostdy Hotel will gladly
supply you with a fully inclusive package per person, according
to your requirements, upon request.
PREFERRED SUPPLIERS
Drostdy Hotel works with preferred suppliers and requests
that you liaise with the suppliers directly. Should you require
Drostdy Hotel to assist with securing the suppliers and making
the necessary bookings, a 10% handling fee is charged. Suppliers’
details are supplied upon request.
MAXIMUM NUMBER OF GUESTS
Drostdy Hotel hosts wedding groups of up to 150 persons.
Wedding Catering
Enjoy hearty cuisine, beautifully prepared by Drostdy Hotel’s executive
chef and culinary team.
The following celebratory meals are catered for:
Welcome dinner on the first night, from R 250.00 to R 350.00 per person.
Wedding lunch or dinner, from R 350.00 to R 650.00 per person.
Please note that all catering is done exclusively by Drostdy Hotel and its
suppliers.
Furthermore, all beverages are supplied by Drostdy Hotel’s fully serviced
bar. The hotel is a fully licensed establishment and all drinks will be
charged on consumption.
SPECIAL DIETARY REQUIREMENTS
All special dietary requirements are kindly to be discussed with Drostdy
Hotel in advance for the necessary arrangements to be made.
KOSHER & HALAAL CATERING
While Newmark’s kitchens are not kosher or halaal, suitable meals are
available via an outsourced supplier, upon prior arrangement, at an
additional cost.

ACCOMMODATION
Drostdy Hotel comprises forty-eight stylish rooms, which have been decorated with crisp whites, wooden elements, bold Karoo art and décor reminiscent of
a bygone era. Stretch’s Court includes thirty-one of these rooms, the Ferreira Precinct hosts seven and Kromm’s Court, ten.
Select room types offer private verandahs.
BACHELOR ROOMS
The eight Bachelor Rooms are ideally suited to corporate
travellers and accommodate a maximum of two guests.

The fifteen Executive Rooms differ in size, but each is spacious
and luxurious. Two Ferreira Executive Rooms, located in a
private precinct, can be sold together with three Standard
Rooms for an exclusive area with a pool, ideal for families
or friends travelling together.

WINE SHOP
South Africa is known for its excellent
wines. The newly opened wine shop at the
Drostdy Hotel proudly carries wines, among
the country’s best, produced by the Rupert
family’s estates and sells most of these at
cellar door prices. Although contemporary,
the shop complements the historic setting in
which it is located.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Not only does Drostdy Hotel carry a special story from the past but it further has a vision for the future, ensuring a brighter one for those in surrounding
communities. Supporting equal opportunities and opening the door to an excellent learning platform, the hotel offers annual internships to female
graduates from the SA College for Tourism.
ABOUT GRAAFF-REINET
Nestled in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa, Graaff-Reinet is the
country’s fourth oldest magisterial district. It is home to over 220 heritage sites,
including various houses, buildings and farms, which reveal the town’s journey
through time. The town is situated within the Great Karoo and is thus surrounded
by natural beauty, rich in fauna and flora.
Graaff-Reinet experiences little rainfall as the Great Karoo is considered a
semi-desert region. Arid air and cloudless skies are typical of this area, as are
great heat and frosts. Daytime is typically warm, while nighttime and early
mornings can become cool, even in summer months. This climate results in
a very particular landscape, dotted with xerophytic vegetation.

Terms & Conditions
Pre-payment Policy (Applicable to Group Bookings)
Please note that your reservation is not confirmed or secured until this pre-payment requirement has been paid in full. Newmark reserves the right,
without notice to the Tour Operator/Agent/Company/Guest/Group, to release any accommodation held where the required pre-payment has not been
paid in full within the stated period.
Should Newmark receive confirmed bookings against provisional space, it does reserve the right to contact you to request releasing of rooms and it
will require a response within 48 hours or the rooms will be automatically released.
• Once a reservation has been made, a pro-forma invoice will be forwarded to the Tour Operator/Agent/Company/Guest within 24 hours of the
booking date.
• A reservation will be held on a provisional basis for fourteen (14) days from day of booking. The Tour Operator/Agent/Company/Guest is
required to release provisional bookings in writing by either e-mail or fax.
• A group will become confirmed once the pre-payment has been received and all terms and conditions have been adhered to.
• Newmark requires the following advance pre-payment:
- A 20% non-refundable pre-payment for the full value of the reservation within fourteen (14) days of making a reservation
- An additional 50% of the full amount ninety (90) days prior to the earliest arrival date
- The outstanding balance is required thirty (30) days prior to the arrival date
- All other extras must be settled with the hotel
• Should a reservation be made sixty (60) days or less prior to the arrival date, 50% of the total amount is required within seven (7) days of date of
booking and full payment is required thirty (30) days prior to the earliest arrival date of the group.
• Should a Tour Operator/Agent enjoy credit facilities with Newmark, they are required to prepay for groups to guarantee the booking, in which
event the account will be invoiced in accordance with that facility.
• Newmark reserves the right to cancel any reservation should the pre-payment policy not be adhered to.
• The Tour Operator/Agent/Company/Guest is liable for all accommodation payments in terms of this contract.
• Newmark reserves the right to request payment directly from clients, should pre-payment not have been received by the stipulated deadlines.
Reduction/Cancellation Policy (Applicable to Group Bookings)
• All reservation cancellations must be received by the Central Reservations Department per email or fax.
• Cancellation of groups made within 30 days of intended arrival will not incur cancellation charges if cancelled within 24 hours of original
confirmation.
• The Tour Operator/Agent/Guest shall be liable for the following cancellation fees on the cancellation of a confirmed reservation or reduction in
the number of rooms or guests:
- 91 days or more prior to arrival: 20% of the full amount if the entire booking is cancelled or 20% of the revenue relating to the cancelled rooms
- 90 to 31 days prior to arrival: 50% of the full amount if the entire booking is cancelled or 50% of the revenue relating to the cancelled rooms
- 30 to 0 days prior to arrival: 100% of the full amount if the entire booking is cancelled or 100% of the revenue relating to the cancelled rooms
• All accounts must be settled in full on departure – in the event of a group or part thereof checking out prior to the guaranteed departure date,
Newmark reserves the right to charge for the full duration of the original booking.
• Failure to adhere to any of the booking or pre-payment deadlines entitles Newmark at its sole discretion to automatically release the
accommodation booking.
• In the event of a no show, Newmark reserves the right to charge the Tour Operator/Agent/Company/Guest for the full duration or part thereof
depending on the occupancy and availability of rooms on the night/s in question unless Newmark is able to resell the rooms.
• Newmark reserves the right to retain any pre-payments paid in lieu of cancellation fees payable in accordance with the cancellation policy herein.
