WINTER edition 2021
Welcome to our winter newsletter! We almost made it through half of 2021 with only one small
lockdown...Alas, here we are 1st of June and unfortunatley dealing with this all too familiar
situation. with 35 cases "presently" it is vital that we get this undercontrol to keep eachother
safe. On a national level we have made it through the first half of the year with minimal
interruptions to business and our everyday life which is amazing! We have all now come to the
realization that COVID-19 is not going away, we must continue to adapt our practices and lifestyles
for the better. It's important to note that as essential services continue to operate - WE WILL
REMAIN OPEN TO SERVE YOUR EMERGENCY AND ESSENTIAL NEEDS..There is no need to be
COLD, wet or in the dark!
Winter is here, and we need to take extra precautions to ensure our safety at home and at work this
year. Being prepared for wild, wet, windy and cold weather is a must if you don’t want to be caught

for everything that these colder months may throw at us.
At Alpine our Footy tipping competition is in full swing, which brings us together over a great
Aussie sport. As footy lovers, Alpine is proud to support the local Woori Yallock AusKick! This
is where potential AFL players are nurtured and enjoy weekly training sessions with their
mates. Alpine as a Diamond Dealer of Mitsubishi was invited to the annual Mitsubishi dealer
awards in Hobart Tasmania. Here we enjoyed building relationships, attending a great
conference and also celebrating the past 12 months.
Our team continues to grow, and our weekly training is a highlight for our technicians. This

2. BACK UP GENERATORS Melbourne’s weather is so unpredictable… Power outages frequently occur year-round, and most of us have not considered what will happen when extreme weather causes a black out. Across the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne, strong storms with high winds bring down power lines. There is also a high demand for electricity during the winter months as everyone is staying indoors and turning on their heating systems. This may cause rolling blackouts and brownouts in areas where utilities services cannot cope with increased power demands.
Fortunately, a generator can supply electricity during the duration of a power
outage by being powered by diesel or alternate fuels. Below we will list a few
points that a back up generator can literally save the day.
Keeping the refrigerator running
When power outages last for days food will often spoil, this is not only
inconvenient but if you run or own a small business that relies on coolrooms
and freezers it can be extremely costly.
Keeping people and pets warm
No one wants to be left curled up with three pairs of socks on, under a heavy

3. CARBON MONOXIDE
how to stay safe this winter
As most people know, CO or Carbon Monoxide is a deadly, colorless, odorless,
poisonous gas. It is produced by the incomplete burning of various fuels. Equipment
powered by internal combustion engines also produce CO. In many parts of Victoria
and the Yarra Valley ducted heating (powered by natural gas) is a popular choice for
heating homes during the colder months. This along with other gas appliances in
our homes means every homeowner should know that basics around CO poisoning.
The first thing you should consider is which appliances/equipment in your home are
fuelled by any of the above. If you have any (which most of us do) you need to think
about when you last had it serviced by a professional. Our technicians are trained in
how to detect dangerous CO levels, and also how to isolate, decommission or repair
the source of any CO leaks. Have your equipment serviced annually! Along with an
annual service you can also safeguard your home from CO poisoning by completing
the following:
Ensure there is some fresh air intake periodically into your home.
Don’t use a gas heater overnight or for extended periods.
Minimise the use of exhaust fans at the same time heaters are used. Using
exhaust fans in the kitchen or bathroom can create negative pressure and lead
to gas heater emissions being sucked back into the house rather than allowing
them to be exhausted to the outside air.
Do not use an unflued heater in a bedroom and minimise daily usage
of unflued heaters.
