WHAT IS THE EPIC
                                                 CHALLENGE?
                                        Here’s how it works...

                                        EPIC Challenge 1: All students are randomly
                                        divided into teams in their PE class to complete 4
                                        days of wacky, fun relays and Minute to Win It
                                        games. TOP Teams earn special recognition. By
                                        participating, all students earn the right of having
                                        completed THE EPIC CHALLENGE!!

EPIC Challenge 2: 1st period classes compete to see which one will raise the most money
for TMS during our month of fundraising. TOP class earns a private lunch party plus (1) friend
each.

EPIC Challenge 3: Students compete to see who will individually raise the most money for
TMS during our month of fundraising. TOP 50 plus (1) friend each earn a private lunch party.
TOP 40 students also earn entry into the Grand Prize(s) Opportunity Drawing. This year the
Grand Prizes are: An Apple Watch, One Month Family Membership to Renaissance Club
Sport in AV, and much more...

DAILY OPPORTUNITY DRAWINGS
Multiple Winners each day (school days January 30 thru February 15th) during the morning
1st period announcements~ Possible daily drawing prizes include various donations from
local stores including apparel, food & retail gift cards, and services.

HOW TO SPONSOR YOUR STUDENT
ONLINE: Setup a quick and easy Personal Fundraising Page (PFP) at:
http://bit.ly/EpicChallenge2019. (Instructions included in this packet.) Then forward this
PFP page to family and friends everywhere. For every $5 online donation, a student earns 1
Opportunity Ticket. In person donations at school in the front office also earn 1 Opportunity
Ticket for every $5 donated. IMPORTANT~ Please include a Donation Coupon found in this
packet in order to give your student credit for the donation. In office donations will not
show up online for your student or the school, but they will be added to these amounts at
the end to determine top earners.

ADDITIONAL WAY TO DONATE
Donate Gift Cards for our daily opportunity drawings~Your student earns 1 Opportunity
Ticket per $5 value. IMPORTANT~Please include a Donation Coupon found in this packet in
order to give your student credit for the donation. Any and all gift cards are
welcome~examples: Dessert shops, cafes, eateries, movies, Amazon, Itunes, etc.

HOW TO SET UP YOUR CHILD'S PERSONAL FUNDRAISING PAGE (PFP) FOR EPIC CHALLENGE

Hi Parents and Caregivers,

Today we kicked off our 9th Annual EPIC Challenge in your child’s PE Classes.

This is our 2nd year using an online fundraising program by Scholastic Challenge. It makes fundraising
easier and a lot more fun! Everyone can watch our progress in real time as we strive towards our goal of
raising $48,000 for Thurston Middle School. Thank-you to our Business Sponsors who have already
donated over $5000!! IF ALL TMS STUDENTS DONATE $60, WE WILL REACH OUR EPIC GOAL!!

Each 1st PERIOD CLASSROOM is set up as a "team" with a fundraising goal based on the number of
students in that class. Each student on a team must set up their own Personal Fundraising Page (PFP).
All students will automatically receive 10 Opportunity Tickets just for setting up their
Fundraising Page, which goes towards chances to win at our daily opportunity drawings! Once the PFP
is set-up, the link can be sent to family & friends all over the city, county, country and world to ask for
donations. Donors simply click the red "Donate" button on your student's page. Every $5 online
donation = 1 Ticket. IF ALL TMS STUDENTS DONATE $60, WE WILL REACH OUR EPIC GOAL!!

                Here's how to create your student's own Personal Fundraising Page:

1 - Go to the EPIC Challenge site: bit.ly/EpicChallenge2019
2 - Click the green "Participate" button in the top banner
3 - Click the red "Create an Account" button
4 - Complete the Registration form and click the "Sign up now" button
5 - Complete the Personal Fundraising Page form, where you can:
        a) Set your fundraising goal as high or as low as you'd like!
        b) Click "Samples" to see sample Personal Fundraising messages, and customize one.
        c) Choose your student's 1st PERIOD CLASSROOM. This will be their TEAM!

6 - If you want to add another fundraising page for another participant (if you have more than one
child at Thurston Middle School), click "Add Another PFP"
7 - If you are only creating one page, click "Save PFP"
8 - Your student's page is now a part of the site and you will be sent an email with a URL that you can
easily share through email and social media; Or you can send out the EPIC site link of:
bit.ly/EpicChllenge2019 and people can look up your student by name.

VOLUNTEER
EPIC Challenge is Thurston Middle School’s biggest annual fundraiser~raising also our student’s
school spirit and fun level during 2 1/2 weeks of opportunity drawings; class rivalry; and team
challenges during PE. Students have a blast as they compete in team physical and mental game
challenges during their PE class.

Wednesday, February 13th ~ Outside Team Relays on the field; Hosted by Laguna’s own local
Radio Sation KX 93.5.

Thursday, February 14th (Block Day) ~ Minute to Win It Games-In the Gym

Friday, February 15th (Block Day) ~ Minute to Win It Games-In the Gym

Volunteer for as little as 1 class period, even during your child’s class, or spend the day helping
out! We need you!!

Wednesday’s PE Challenges are outside old-fashioned fun team field games ~ sack races and
crazy relays. Block Day PE is in the gym with Minute-to-Win-It team challenges ~ a fast paced
circuit of 12 zany challenges.

We will need lots of volunteers during these events, especially on the Block Days. You do not
want to miss this!! Come for endless smiles, laughter, cheers, music and healthy, good clean fun
by all!
