M E R R I L L C O M M U N I T Y S C H O O L D I S T R I C T WHERE W E E K L Y W O R D YOU October 1, 2021 BELONG Dear Merrill Community School District Families, There are many updates in this weekly word from the community and throughout the District. The Marion Springs Conservations Club will have a large outdoor market for you to enjoy this weekend. Please spread the word that our military appreciation home football game is on October 15th. We would love to have as many of our community's active military or veterans come to enjoy a meal with a hot dog, chips, cookies and drink, as well as get recognized on the field. We are thankful for their service and want to take this chance to show it. Details are below. Our Merrill Community Spirit Committee is also looking for applicants to participate in their annual fundraiser event to benefit their organization. See these and other event details included below. There is no school on Monday for students. Our teaching staff will be participating in a county-wide professional development day. Merrill Community Preschool/Before and After Care News PRESCHOOL NEWS Our preschool students have been busy building friendships, and learning about the letter Bb. We have been measuring and writing our names. Next week we will be making friendship necklaces, painting with balloons, and builiding a friendship tree! We have been reading the story "Rainbow Fish" in our classrooms. The children love this story of sharing! REMINDERS: Please send a jacket to school as we meet outside. All Students must wear a mask to ride the bus! Preschool doors open at 7:55am for morning drop off and 2:30 pm for pick up. NO PRESCHOOL OCT 4TH- Professional Development Day November 16th Preschool Picture Day Please keep children home that are not feeling well. This will ensure that our students stay healthy. BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL - Extended Care Our students have been having a great time at before and after school! We enjoy lots of outdoor play and activities. We have been working on making paper pumpkins and rock painting. The students enjoy air hockey, building at the train table and, puzzles. IMPORTANT INFORMATION NO CELL PHONES ARE ALLOWED IN OUR BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM. NO SCHOOL! FLY FISHING CLUB Are you interested in learning more about fly No school Monday October 4th for fishing, fish and the Mid-Michigan environment? Do you like being in nature and exploring rivers/lakes? Professional Development Day! FLY FISHING CLUB MEETING FRIDAY OCTOBER 8TH AFTER SCHOOL IN THE MEDIA CENTER! No experience or gear needed! Military Appreciation Home game october 15th All active and retired military members are invited to enjoy free hot dogs, chips, cookies and drink in the reception tent inside the stadium from 5:00 - 7:00. At 6:40 pm there will be a Military Recognition on the field. The game starts at 7:00.
October is College Month 2021 *All events will take place from 2:14-2:45 unless otherwise listed. *Every senior is expected to attend each event. *Senior audits will take place at scheduled times during the month. Parents may attend if they so desire. Please contact Mrs. Jordan for an appointment outside of the school day if necessary. Jordan@merrillschools.org or (989) 643-7231 ext. 206 Drama Club Puppet Show Drama club will be performing a puppet show on October 21st at 1pm. The event will take place in the middle school gym. Parents and all students are invited to come enjoy the show! The show is part of a culminating project for 6th graders in Drama Class. Students are hard at work creating props, scenery, scripts, and the puppets!
