Student and Parent Expectations

   • Teachers will work with families to set up a consistent schedule for instruction. It is
important, once a schedule is set up that works for both your family and the teacher,
that students regularly attend meetings with their Summer 2020 Boost teacher.
   • The general framework recommends students will be engaged in learning for
approximately 2 to 3 hours per day. This will include time spent daily one-on-one with
the teacher, in small groups, and in whole group.
   • Students will also have independent work provided by the teacher when not in direct
contact with the teacher. For example, students will complete i-Ready during this
       independent work time.
   • Stay connected to the Summer Boost teacher and advocate for your child’s needs.
   • Reading at home:
           • Students are expected to read every day.
           • Encouragement and rewards for summer reading will be supported by the
Suncoast Summer Reading Challenge. Teachers will provide information about
               how to participate.

with Sarasota County School’s Arts Integration Specialist, Jessica DiLorenzo. Each of the
four weeks has a different theme and focuses on using movement to enhance learning:
Week 1: Life Cycles in Nature
Week 2: Stories that Inspire Lyric Writing
                                 Week 3: Moving Through Science
Week 4: Moving Through the Hero’s Journey
Each experience will take place in a Zoom Meeting. See the chart below to find an
opportunity that fits your family’s schedule.
