COVID-19 Disclaimer
● All of the information below has been created for the VV synchro team under
the current COVID-19 guidelines and restrictions set in place by the State of
Colorado and City of Denver. Our schedule, policies and operation is subject
to change IF the Colorado Department of Health releases updated guidelines
and restrictions. Please reference the Virginia Vale Teams COVID Protocol for
details.
Team Policies
● Each swimmer must attend at least one figure meet to be eligible to compete
at Finals on July 20/21.
● Intermediates are required to attend Finals on July 20/21. We stronglyencourage novices to plan to attend as well as it is the main focus of our
season.
● All swimmers attending Finals must commit to attending all practices after the
July 4th week in order to be fair to their partners.
● Swimmers should arrive to practice in their swimsuits, ready to dryland
and immediately get in the pool.
● Swimmers may not use cell phones during practice.
● All absences must be communicated as soon as possible. Synchro is first
and foremost a team sport, and unknown absences can negatively impact
other swimmers.
● Routine partners for intermediates will be announced on Thursday, June 3rd.
Routine partners for novices will be announced Thursday, June 24th. We will try
our hardest to not change them after they are announced. However, sometimes
due to unforeseen circumstances, routine partners must be altered. In this
event, we will work our hardest to make sure all of our swimmers feel
supported in their new pairings.
Volunteer Opportunities
• Our team parent, Peggy Bowdouris, organizes our volunteers for synchro.
• Each parent is required to take on 1-2 volunteer shifts per swimmer throughout
the regular season and additional shifts at the Water Show and Finals.
• We strongly encourage new parents to attend judges training so that they can
volunteer as judges and get a better feel for the sport.
Figure Meets
• Swimmers must plan to attend at least 1 figure meet this season to be eligible for
Finals.
• Figure Meets this year are:
• Saturday, June 26th @ Crestmoor
• Saturday, July 10th @ Skyline
• Swimmers should plan to be there from 7:30am-12:30pm.
• At meets, swimmers must wear a black swimsuit (either a one-piece or a rash
guard and jammers), a white cap (provided by us), a nose clip, and goggles.
Optional Figure Clinics
• We will hold optional figure clinics on the Friday before the Crestmoor and
Stapleton figure meets on the following dates:
• Friday, June 25th from 9:30-11am
• Friday, July 9th from 9:30-11am• These clinics cost $10 per swimmer and provide an opportunity for focused work
on figures before the meets.
Private Lessons
• Private lessons can be scheduled with any coach in order to work on figures or
routines. Coaches set their own rates based on experience. Please note that
access to the deep end is not guaranteed.
Costumes
• Costumes are meant to be a fun, low-key part of our synchro season.
• Swimmers may have a different costume for each routine or wear the same
costume for multiple routines.
• All parents should plan to attend the Costume Meeting on Monday, June 28.
Water Show
• The Water Show (our dress rehearsal for Finals) will take place on Wednesday,
July 14th. Swimmers must arrive at 4:00pm. The show will run from 6:30-
8:00pm. This is a fun celebration of all of our hard work throughout the summer.
Finals
• All swimmers should plan to be at Finals at Virginia Vale from 7:30am-5pm on
July 20/21.
• While a Finals schedule will be published before the event, this schedule is
always subject to change, so parents should be flexible during these days if
they would like to see their swimmer compete.Age Group Information - Novice
● We strongly encourage all novices to take part in either swim team or swim
lessons this summer. Doing so hugely improves their synchro ability and strength
