Principal’s Message:

Dear Parents and Students-
Hopefully you were able to enjoy a fun filled and
relaxing holiday with family and friends. We wanted to thank our Larsen Community who really
pulled together during this holiday season. We had many generous donations that helped out a
number of families in our community. We thank you, and are grateful to live in an area where
neighbors and friends are so kind and supportive.
We are excited to jump back into learning as we are nearing the end of another
term in two weeks. With that, we have Parent Teacher Conferences just around the corner.
Please head to our website at larsen.nebo.edu and click on the correct link along the right side
of the home page, to sign up for a conference time. If you need any assistance to get this
taken care of, just give the office a call and we would be happy to assist you.
This month Larsen will have the opportunity to present to for local School Board. We
will have a chance to showcase some of the great things that are happening here at Larsen.
Some students will be asked to participate in this event, and we hope they will be able to have
that opportunity. The Board Meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 6:00pm.
Please make note of this date and time if you’d like to join us in supporting Larsen.
Another thing that will be taking place this month is our yearly Netsmartz Assembly.
This is an opportunity for all students to be trained on using the internet safely. It’s a great
reminder of the things that students should watch out for to best try and keep them safe and
using the internet for all of the great things that are available. We will also have a Teacher
Development Day on Friday, January 12, 2018. Students will not have school on this day as
teachers will be in trainings. And as always we will have our monthly Leopard Pride Assembly,
which we love having the support of parents who are able to attend. January’s goals and
awards will be celebrated on February 2, 2018 at 2:00pm.
We look forward to seeing everyone in a couple of weeks for Parent Teacher
Conferences. Thanks :)

                                    -Mrs. Thomas

PTA NEWS
                         Upcoming activities and dates:
Thank you so much to everyone who came out to our first ever Larsen Skate Night
at Classic Skate in Orem. We had a great turnout and it looked like everyone was
having so much fun! As part of our package, we get another skate night in
February. If you’d like to put the date on your calendars now, it’s Tuesday,
February 6th, from 5:30-8:30. Skate rentals are only $2 but you can also bring
your own skates, blades or scooters. Classic Skate also offers food deals, as well as
specials on their other activities. Watch for the flier to come home with all the
info the last week of January. It was so fun to see several Larsen students, and
former students, trying skates for the first time! If you or your kids haven’t
skated before, this is a great time to give it a whirl.

Our January PTA meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 2nd, at 3pm. We
hope to see everyone there.

Our January Parent Night is also on Monday the 8th, at 6:30pm. Our
discussion will focus on the 4th Habit, which is Think Win-Win. I’ve really enjoyed
being able to participate in these classes and have learned so much. Don’t feel like
you can’t come if you haven’t been before - we try to do a quick review of the
previous habits and see where everyone is at before we start.

PTA is always looking for more volunteers. We would love any and all ideas to help
Larsen be a great place for our children and teachers to thrive. Please contact PTA
President Holly Frasche (801) 691-8087 if you are interested in helping.

                              COUNSELOR’S CORNER
This month for Character Education, we have been learning the difference between being a bully and
being mean. Students learned different bullying terminology to understand how to handle difficult
situations. Along with this, students learned Habit 3, Put first things first. Students learn how to work
first then play, set priorities, and make a schedule.
